Review: Air Cushion Finish formed in Berlin in 2007 and is comprised of composer JayRope and 'natural vocal synthesizer' Lippstueck, who have graced Berlin's underground scene together since the 1990s. Lippstueck sings wordless and backwards in time, while partner JayRope uses a combination of electronic and string instruments in an improvised, DIY fashion. According to Amsterdam based label Lullabies For Insomniacs, their ever evolving setup is imperative and 'subsequently music is programmatic to the band, resulting into an unforeseeable slow motion cacophony of whispers, bleeps, rhythms and harmonies.' The Flink LP is the duo's sixth studio album; a collection of experimental electronics, assembled in freeform fashion alongside some curious field recordings that you can fully immerse yourself in.

Review: Izabel Caligiore's wonderful Lullabies For Insomniacs show on Red Light Radio expands its remit with the launch of an eponymous label and the debut release showcases the distinct talents of Sugai Ken. According to Caligiore, Ken made contact with her after hearing the legendary Chee Shimizu mix on LFI, sending over some CDs of his music and she was blown away by the Tokyo artist's unique sonic vision. The end result is On The Quakefish, a delightfully odd adventure through Ken's immersive world where Gigi Masin-style new age bliss outs intermingle with strange vocal chant tracks and other quirky compositions. Nature and water specifically seems to be a central theme for this most intriguing album which sounds like it has been recorded from another dimension. A fine debut from Lullabies For Insomniacs, we are totally behind this one!

Review: Life Garden was formed in Phoenix, Arizona during the fall of 1989 by George Dillon, Su Ling and W. David Oliphant. The group was the reinvention of post-industrial band Maybe Mental (1982-1987) and delved into an ineffable territory where language failed, their music found root. Each release was loosely guided by one member, caught between the Tapestry of Silence and Beauty (1991) was focused towards the poetry and vocals of George Dillon who sadly passed away after the completion of the album. During this period the band began to shift from using synths and samplers to an all acoustic approach. Over several months, Su Ling and David developed a unique improvisational style using digital multi-effects and loopers to process Su's vocals and a variety of percussion, string and wind instruments. This became the foundation of the LG sound and is heard thoughout this LP.
