Diggers? (5:30)
Review: More crazy acid flashbacks from Berlin's zany Libertine camp, courtesy of Madrid's Aaron Corpas aka Corp - his second release for the label since Traditions 04 back almost a year ago. In line with the label's modus operandi, the Spanish producer serves up some all analogue sounding jams that borrow from early UK bleep techno and Detroit first wave aesthetics: from the breakbeat driven rave energy of "System Off", the 313 electro funk of "Say It Again" and some seriously neon-lit retroversion on the crazy "Diggers?".

Bad Trip (5:43)
Tune In Space (5:49)
Alpha 101 (6:27)
Dark Space (6:48)
Review: Over the last year or two, Darren "Dawl" Woollard has proved to be one of British techno's most on-point revivalists. Here he pops up on Libertine with more mind-altering peak-time fare full of subtle references to records of old. There's something particularly wild and psychedelic about EP opener "Bad Trip", a throbbing chunk of mid-tempo techno rich in ghostly chords, glassy-eyed spoken word samples and layer upon layer of TB-303 acid lines. "Tune In Space" doffs a suitably oversized cap to "bleep and breaks" style early UK hardcore (think "LFO" chords, "Testone" bleeps, heavy sub bass and skittish drums), while "Alpha 101" sounds like the kind of record "Evil" Eddie Richards might have made around 1990. "Dark Space" meanwhile, is a killer electro cut laden in bleep-style melodies.

Dweller (5:21)
Come & See (7:48)
Another Way Story (5:46)
Generation AST (5:46)
Snark 133 (5:31)
Review: There's rather a lot of electro EPs around right now, though few are quite as interesting, energetic and full of great ideas as Simon Brown's latest excursion as The Dexorcist. The experienced producer hits the ground running via the moody, aggressive and thrillingly heavy electro/breaks fusion of 'Dweller', before combining star fall synthesizer melodies, rumbling sub-bass and high-tempo electro beats on the equally as impressive 'Come and See'. Over on the flip, 'Another Way Story' is an effortlessly exuberant slab of rave-era breakbeat hardcore revivalism - all heavy sub-bass, cut-up riffs and chiming melodies - while 'Generation AST' adds razor-sharp, minor-key riffs, flash-fried funk bass and sweaty MC samples to another bustling hardcore breakbeat.

Altered Groove (5:54)
Coleco Vision (5:37)
Cyborg Jumper (5:04)
Whispers (5:12)
Review: Few represent the new garde of Berlin's scene better than the Libertine crew. Their long parties upon the city's River Spree are now legendary and their eponymous label reflects the sounds on their dancefloor: throwbacks to classic Detroit techno and electro. Quite fitting then that they tap the Motor City legend Di'jital: former live DJ for Aux 88 and responsible for some innovative sci-fi funk since the late '90s on Direct Beat, Twilight76 and of course his own Di'jital Access imprint. It's straight up 313 business from the beginning with the relentless boom, snap and bleep of "Altered Groove" while "Coleco Vision" is electro-bass just the way we like it: executed with pure precision. On the flip, "Cyborg Jumper" could well be one of his unreleased jams from wayback; saturated in a lo-fi sheen, gritty and raw. Finally "Whispers" goes for that retro first wave feel that'd make even Magic Juan proud!

Review: Incy wincy Walid El Barbir dons his DJ Web guise for this stark set of analogue fusions. Blurring the lines between every genre this side of 1990s hardcore, Traditions 16 is a melting pot exploration that brings in elements of new romantic pumps ('Nos Noctium Dominarium'), swampy big beat drama ('Chaosophia777') dense, acidic new beat ('Extinction For The Psychic Sustenance') sleazy rock ('616 The Number Of The Beat') and plenty more in between. A truly unique experience, if you enjoyed Wilid's output as Les Points, you'll be all over this.

Review: Whereas Ed Upton's previous DMX Krew album for Hypercolour explored the bittersweet world of electronic melancholia and laidback futurism, his latest full-length outing charges towards the dancefloor with a giddy grin and an adrenaline-fuelled lust for life. From start to finish, the untitled set is a throbbing rush of futurist techno, fizzing electro and muscular Italo-disco workouts, with Upton's trademark sound - think funk-fuelled synth-bass, psychedelic acid lines, intergalactic chord sequences and inspired electronic flourishes - guaranteeing countless cuts of timeless electronic music. Best of all, while most of the tracks are crying out for club plays, the album can be enjoyed as a single musical journey that stands up to repeated listens.

Small Town Yoky 11 (5:37)
Review: Libertine's 14th release is something of a beast: a double-EP from sometime My Own Jupiter Producer Do Or Die that squeezes in nine impressively varied tracks. The fast-rising producer's roots are of course in techno and electro, but he's not shy in exploring every avenue of these wide-ranging genres. For proof, compare and contrast the acid-fired, new wave-influenced bubbliness of "Galactic Bang Bang", the fast-paced acid-electro intensity of "Blackmail", the Italo-disco style throb-job "Morning To Lose", and the chiming, all-action cheeriness of quirky closing cut "Small Town Yoky 11". The rest of the double-pack maintains this interconnected eclecticism, portraying Do Or Die as a producer with a head full of ideas and an eccentric musical vision of his own.

F*ck The Purists (feat Ancient Artifact)
Burn It Down
All Hail The TV
Review: Where Have All The Punks Gone is a great question and one that is well posed by Druum & Melatron on this kick-ass new outing for Libertine. 'I Feel Safe' is a rugged and ragged opener with visceral vocals spat out over thumping electro rhythms. 'Blind Fury' is another one that slaps hard with raw drum textures and mystic pads, then 'F*ck The Purists' (feat Ancient Artifact) is a dark and menacing low rider with moody bass locking you into the anarchy. 'Burn It Down' layers up spitting drums and salty synths, distant drones and twisted metal into something brilliantly unhinged and 'All Hail The TV' closes out with caustic electro-punk.

Review: Italian expats Yoshi and Sbri run the Libertine imprint out of Berlin and the party of the same name, held down at the iconic Jannowitzbrucke district. Their label brings a renewed focus to often overlooked or even forgotten producers of the vintage techno realm, having previously shone the spotlight on legends such as Justin Morgan aka Ruseden, Ann Arbor's Andy Crosby aka Spesimen of (Infocalypse Records) and Miami electro-bass underdog Gosub. Their attention now focuses on one Scott Edward Hodgson, a London based producer highly active throughout the '90's on his on Beau Monde imprint, in addition to running Out Of Orbit: a sublabel of the legendary Roman imprint ACV, which was operated by the legendary Leo Anibaldi and Robert Armani. Expressive rhythm patterns, otherworldly synth textures plus certain suspense and a distinct aesthetic overall: which is absolutely timeless.

Gosub - "Love Balls" (8:18)
Diablo Source - "In Your Soul" (3:18)
Review: This record is a special coming together of the legendary Isophlux label and Libertine Records for five tracks of previously unreleased electro and techno gold. They come from deep within the vaults on some old DATs as unearthed by Gosub and he opens things up with the icy and glistening electro fizzer, "Static Stabs." He also offers up "Love Balls", which is a more pensive and spacious deep electro cut with lush chords draped over slippery beats. Elsewhere there is the freaky late night funk of Diablo Source's "In Your Soul" and retro tinged "Automatic Voice" helping to make this a timeless traversing of these futurist styles.

Review: Berlin retroverts Libertine are back with more jolly jams as part of their Traditions series, now with some unearthed tapes from Khan aka German producer Can Oral - founder of I'm Single /Super 8 and brother of Cem Oral from Air Liquide. He's released on a heap of seminal imprints since the early '90s, such as Mille Plateaux, Direct Drive, Playhouse and Cheap - so if you don't know about this guy: it's time you got familiar! Featured here are a bunch of zany acid flashbacks that perfectly freeze frame a very particular aesthetic in the Berlin based producer's storied past. Tracks like "Slow Stepper" or "20.02.94" are the zeitgeist of the capital's techno scene in the early '90s (and just as good as anything on Cabinet Records at the time), while "Mutama" goes for a more experimental edge with its snarling FM breaks. Finally "Acid Lemon Bits" gets all moody and tunnelling for those heads down moments on the dancefloor.

Review: Libertine's popular "Traditions" series is now three years old and 15 releases deep. The latest artist to showcase their wares is Mark Wilkinson AKA Kid Machine, a producer who has previously offered up intoxicating throb-jobs on Red Laser, Cyberdance and Viewlexx. In keeping with his trademark style - think dark, foreboding and occasionally panicked fusions of Italo-disco, EBM, NYC freestyle and space disco - the eight tracks on show cannily combine moody, arpeggio-drivem grooves with hazy chords, sparkling synthesizer sounds, and chiming melodies that recall the synth-heavy horror soundtracks of John Carpenter. The quality threshold remains high throughout, meaning it should be a must-have for those in love with the more muscular and throbbing end of the electronic disco spectrum.

Review: Steve Marie's debut album on Libertine Industries is part of a new series from the label that aims to shine a light on fast rising talents. It's a cross-genre mashup of acid, new beat, techno, electro, wave and more, with a thrilling sense of forward motion and plenty of haunted atmospheres. 'That's The Way' opens with old school baselines and sci-fi vocals setting the strobe-lit scene. 'The Worth' is then a hard hitting jam built on sark metallic drums and with real urgency in its bones. Amongst other highlights, 'Stress Valley' really drills deep and makes you jerk your body in multiple directions at once.

Neu Rot (8:15)
L'absence (5:18)
Review: The fifth volume in Libertine's ongoing Traditions series offers up a debut from Mathu, a producer who likes to keep a low profile. All four tracks tend towards the more spacey end of the techno spectrum, though there's still plenty of variety on show. Compare, for example, the dreamy riffs, sparkling electronics and cymbal-driven percussion of closer "L'absense" with the more driving and angular, sci-fi fuelled retro-futurist stomp of opener "Pointless". Elsewhere, "Another One" wraps deep space chords and curious vocal samples around a Derrick May-goes-deep house style backing track and "Neu Rot" fixes bleeping melody lines to a stomping, low-slung techno groove.

Review: If you love machine-fired techno and electro that sounds like it was made in the new beat and Italo-disco eras, there's a fair chance you already own at least one double-pack by Moya81. It's a pretty good bet that you'll enjoy the artist's latest outing, too, because it's as gloriously robotic and retro-futurist as you'd expect. There's much to admire across the album, from the sleazy, arpeggio-driven Italo-disco throb of 'Cosmic Kids' and the trance-inducing pulse of 'The Mind', to the Drexciya-go-new beat hum of 'Dangerous Connection' and the Kraftwerk-influenced robo-electro of 'Purple Dreams'.

Chorionic Architecture (6:52)
Ghost Hacker (7:36)
Sensorium (6:32)
Hygenia (7:15)
Review: Berlin retroverts Libertine are back with their seventh edition and once again seem to have unearthed some slept on classics, this time in the form of Mr Suspicious aka Steve Law. Law is an undisputed legend of Melbourne's electronic music scene, mainly known for his trance/ techno exploits as Zen Paradox (on the local Psy-Harmonics imprint) in addition to seminal releases for the seminal Belgian imprint Nova Zembla. Mr Suspicious was only responsible for a couple of EPs between 1997 - 1998 and we can only guess that these tracks are from the same period. From the deep sonar transmissions of "Chorionic Architecture" or the steely slow-burning machine funk of "Ghost Hacker" on the A side. The flip features a couple of more straight ahead cuts: the bleepy rhythm focused DJ tool "Sensorium" and the tunnelling and euphoric stroboscopy of "Hygenia". Props to the lads at Libertine for giving more exposure to this underrated legend.

Premonition (6:21)
Pictograms (6:17)
Eclipsis (7:17)
Review: Savvas Georgiadis' vast array of monikers and side projects are enough to warrant an article on their own, but the Greek producer knows very well that that his Neuro D alias is what punters in the trance game are wanting to hear more than anything else. The man has moved onto techno these days, but this latest EP still has plenty of remnants from the mid-90s trance wave... a particular sub-genre which was very popular around here at the time. Out through Libertine, "Premonition" is a neat hybrid of minimal techno, hard-ass house and something addictively progressive; on the flip, "Pictograms" is even more cyber-punk in its flex, and "Eclipsis" stutters its wayward bassline over fast, dusty percussion and a positively off-kilter beat.

It's by none other than Marco Passrani, the veteran producer who has presented amazing material over the years as Pigna People, Analog Fingerprints and of course Tiger & Woods. This one's called Dead & Alive and features some raw, old school inspired jams: from the early Chicago acid jack of A side cuts 'Water Pressure' or 'Reckless', to some gnarly electro cuts on the B side such as 'One O One' or the particularly off-kilter shenanigans of 'Soul Stealer' which pushes the outer limits towards IDM.

They plunder the vaults and re-release some old gems from yesteryear for the label's second release first up is Andy Crosby aka Spesimen from Ann Arbor who ran Infocalypse Records back in the mid to late noughties with "Catt Witch Dubb (Libertine Late Nights)" which has that classic Detroit high tech soul vibe about it. On the flip he also gives up the dirty 4/4 electro of "Emergent CY" which is absolutely dope. Justin Morgan aka Rusuden is yet another underrated hero of the US underground and his contributions "Mammoth CV" and "Earthtron" are more exemplary productiions redolent of early '90s American techno, but could very well be new too!

iCandy (6:09)
iWash (7:46)
Review: The tenth volume in Libertine's "Traditions" series comes from Luke Vibert, a producer who has consistently delivered brilliant music across a range of electronic styles for the best part of three decades. This time he's in full-on intergalactic electro mode, charging between the ghetto-tech influenced dancefloor assault of "iSocket", the pitched-down, hip-hop tempo shimmer of "iTeeth" - all crunchy machine drums, intergalactic chords and alien lead lines - and the bleeping eccentricity of rolling workout "iCandy". Arguably best of all, though, is closing cut "iWash", a deliciously tipsy and wayward mixture of undulating acid lines, off-kilter synth splashes and skittish electro beats that are far more weighty than they initially appear.

Saverio Celestri - "Dangerous" (5:32)
Yoshi - "Not An Ordinary Place" (6:37)
SBRI - "The Other Side" (5:17)
Review: Although this is credited as being Libertine's first official release, the label has already put out one record, a sort of white label to introduce the crew and the sound. Yoshi, Saverio Celestri and SBRi all featured on number 00, and the boys are back to inaugurate the label properly four back-to-basics house/techno hybrids. Yoshi and Celestri team up for the opener "No Time For School", a lo-fi, head-strong house bomb with a masterfully swelling baseline, while Celeste goes solo on the murky and mystical cut that is "Dangerous". On the flipside, Yoshi is back with the grainy pseudo electro of "Not An Ordinary Place" - perhaps the EP's finest moment - and SBRi drops some squelching truth all over the techno of "The Other Side". All in all, a fine EP, and a warmly recommended new addition to the contemporary house game.
