  1. Here I Come
  2. Ganja Smuggling
Review: Ed Solo is broader than Broadway: a fact so well-known in the jungle fraternity, to mutter such a statement is akin to telling someone water is wet. Just in case you need reminding, here he takes the Barrington Levy classic and flips it into a super-skanked jungle jam that will guarantee rewinds on every single drop. Flip for further reload justice as Ed applies his technique to Eek-A-Mouse. The most distinctive voice reggae has ever given us, Mouse's nasal tones are the consummate fit to Solo's sonic stylings. Large, even by jungle cakes standards.

  1. Ed Solo & Deekline - "Bad Boy" (Benny Page feat Kursiva remix) (3:24)
  2. Deekline - "Pass Me The Dubplate" (feat Tippa Irie - Benny Page remix) (3:49)
Review: One of Solo and Deekline's most enduring refixes (Inner Circle's "Bad Boys") gets a brand new coat of arms courtesy of Benny Page and Spanish newcomer Kursiva as part of Jungle Cakes' fourth Welcome To The Jungle compilation. Adding 2016 production muscle while retaining every juicy drop of funk from the booty-bouncing bass, they've kicked it out of every park in the western hemisphere. Benny then goes solo with another sharp-tailored twist on Deekline's take on Brian & Tony Gold's "Pass Me The Dubplate" that drenched in harmonic vocal soul. Soundboys take cover, strictly murderation business.

  1. Ed Solo & Deekline - "Hit The Road Jack" (feat Gala Orsborn) (4:27)
  2. Jackie Murda - "Girls Dem Dada" (feat Mr Williamz) (4:53)
Review: The second Welcome To The Jungle Volume 2 sampler from major booty murkers Deekline and Ed Solo, it's badman bounce business as usual... The label bosses take the lead with a mischievous shake up of Ray Charles with heavy emphasis placed on the mid 90s Urban Takeover style bass. Label comrade Chopstick follows with an original jam from 2013. Featuring the top-toasting vibes of Mr Williamz, "Girls Dem Dada" is rifle-firing skank session with a tight guitar lead and spitfire lyrical damage. Overstay your welcome on this one.

  1. Smoke The Weed
  2. Joker Smoker
Review: You don't get much more junglistic than Ed Solo and on this latest release from Jungle Cakes, you've guessed it, some sticky, sweet jungle is the order or the day. "Smoke The Weed" is a classic jungle mashup, and with Canadian bass master Stickybuds on hand to provide some serious breaks it quickly escalates to an all-out skanking session. Before you can pass it on, "Joker Smoker" adds retro brass and guitar to build the reggae funk as the track fragments into not one but two different breakdowns providing the basis for some serious dancefloor workouts. Don't sleep on this.

  1. Gardna - "See The Vibe" (feat Tiffani Juno - Ed Solo remix) (5:14)
  2. Perfect Giddimani - "Smoked A Spliff" (Jamie Bostron remix) (4:30)
Review: Jungle Cakes aren't letting up right now; spitting out the skankers like tobacco chewers, every release has been a rolling reggae-fused bomb lately. These are no exception; Tiffani Juno's vocal (which has recently sported releases on Digital Soundboy and Kitsune) hit the spot perfectly over Solo's signature blunderbuss bass. Flip for Bostron's horn-heavy twist of Giddimani's weed/Katy Perry homage. Kissable.

  1. Five On It
  2. Tequila Sunrise
Review: The second cheeky sensation to come on Jungle Cakes this week, wherein the mysterious JFB gives The Luniz "Five On It" a savage bass battering and The Champs' "Tequila" a gentle breakbeat update. The former is a powerful dance smasher that wouldn't go amiss in Andy C's current Alive rampage. The latter is less raucous but equally bubblesome: Think warm up rather than the sonic showdown that's on the A.

  1. Sara Lugo - "Really Like You" (feat Protoje - Jamie Bostron remix) (5:15)
  2. Sizzla - "I'm Living" (Ed Solo & Stickybuds remix) (5:33)
Review: Ahead of the Jungle Cake's third Welcome To The Jungle collection, Deekline drops two of the album's many heaters; Soulfire soulstress Sara Lugo gets the Jamie Bostron treatment as he retains the warm tones and emotional sentiments of the original while applying a slick rolling breakbeat. Looking for a heavier skanker? Flip for Ed Solo and Stickybuds' bass-flecked twist on the unavoidable Sizzla. Underpinned with a juicy bassline, Sizzla's urging lyrics and the dreamy melodica are both kept in check as we roll deeper into the dance. That's living alright.
