La Chance Aux Chansons
La Chance Aux Chansons (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: JC 09. Rel: 05 Feb 18
Deep House
  1. Matthieu Faubourg - "A Long Way"
  2. Drezb - "Chemical Distortion"
  3. Pascal Viscardi - "Digital Illusion"
  4. Midori - "Distance" (feat Victor Santoni)
Review: Jazzy Couscous strikes back with their "La chance aux chansons" EP, showcasing various upcoming talents from the French and Swiss club scene. The opening track, "A long way", is delivered by Matthieu Faubourg, an incredibly gifted young French producer who exploded last year thanks to his mesmerizing "Please, Stay...". It explores darker shades while keeping Faubourg's deep imprint. Next comes Normandy's best kept secret DrezB's first effort with "Chemical distortion". A swinging deep house killer track with some acid accents, definitely floor oriented. The B side is opened by Switzerland most promising club scene talent, Pascal Viscardi. His "Digital illusion" track is a cold and merciless dub house monster. This one will definitely cause a few casualties. Finally, this EP is closed by Midori featuring Victor Santoni with an incredible atmospheric jewel. Literally coming from outer space, their "Distance" track will get you high, VERY high.

Come 2 Home (12" in screen-printed sleeve (comes in different coloured sleeves we cannot guarantee which one you will receive))
Cat: JC 08. Rel: 11 Dec 17
Deep House
  1. Come 2 Home (7:11)
  2. Come 2 Home (Hugo LX Kansai mix) (6:45)
Review: Jazzy Couscous let rip with a little spiritual house healing from a Tokyo OG: Yukihiro Fukutomi. Loaded with swooning Rolando-style pads and a tightly knitted chugging beat and laced with subtle acid and twinkling arpeggios, the deeper into the seven minute trip we travel, the more blissful and immersive things get. Flip for a classic strutting jazzy house rub from label co-founder Hugo LX as he brings the twinkles right to the forefront and moulds the synths into spring jazz-tickled chords. Coming at you in a range of screen-printed coloured sleeves, this is special right down to the very last detail.

Deep House
  1. First Car (10:25)
  2. Futako Tamagawa (6:55)
  3. Inline Four (8:34)
Review: Run by two Tokyo based Frenchmen, Jazzy Couscous is a new label rooted in
a love for Jazz and the urban movements it spawned, from House to Hip-Hop
and everything in-between.
House music nerd with a Hip-Hop background, Alixkun is the DJ of the crew.
You can catch him playing numerous clubs around Tokyo and writing for
Japanese house encyclopedia House Definitive. His journalism and highly
regarded sets led him and the team to be invited on stage for Dommune,
Japan's Boiler Room equivalent.
Klodio, on the other hand, is an upcoming producer to keep an eye on in 2015.
Soon to drop his debut release "Toktroit", he pays tribute to some of his biggest
musical influences, Detroit and Tokyo; combining a clear love and appreciation
for the early UR House sound, with a fresh Tokyoite vibe that will take you on a
full speed night drive through the neon highways. A versatile soul head, equally
at home with House, Techno, Hip-Hop, and even Drum'n'Bass, Klodio knows no
boundaries when it comes to expressing his deep Jazz infused roots.
This year will see various projects in which Alixkun will express his soft spot for
Japanese rare-grooves and Japanese House music. Also planned for release is
a second EP of fine House music by another French producer, so stay tuned for
more by Jazzy Couscous!

Rainbow Bridge (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: JC 05. Rel: 21 Nov 16
Deep House
  1. Shinagawa Sunrise (9:04)
  2. Daiba (11:54)
Review:
Following the successful reception of klodio's debut EP, the Tokyo-based producer spent the year playing shows in Japan with various upcoming artists like Fulbert and label co-founder Alixkun, and taking part in disruptive events such as Pow Wow School of Music.
When klodio decided it was time to start recording his second EP, he took a slightly different direction, going from Techno-influenced Detroit House to House-influenced Detroit Techno. "Shinagawa Sunrise" is a fast-paced retro-futuristic Jazz jam which climaxes on a fantastic sax solo by the young and talented Ilia Skibinsky. Daiba goes a step further in this Techno journey, flowing from glowing, light, syncopated chords to a dark and aggressive atmosphere, and back again to the relaxing chords.
More polished, singular, deep, and yet aggressive than "Toktroit", "Rainbow Bridge EP" brings another stone in the Asia-infused universe that the French producer is bringing to the world of electronic music.

Garuda
Garuda (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: JC 10. Rel: 05 Feb 18
Deep House
  1. Garuda
  2. Garuda (Kuniyuki remix)
Review: Celebrating its 10th release, Jazzy Couscous dug in its Japanese crates to bring us a forgotten gem produced by Japan's Jazz legend Kazumi Watanabe. The track called "?????" (Garuda) was originally released in 1984 on a private press dedicated to a famous Japanese wrestler, Antonio Inoki. Nearly 5min of an ambient beauty taking you through the mysteries of South East Asia's deepest jungles. On the B side, Jazzy Couscous invited Kuniyuki, a true musical genius from Japan knowing no boundaries when it comes to sublimate raw diamonds like Garuda. He delivers an outstanding remix, taking the listener on to a musical journey of exotic deepness. Using traditional drums, he tints the track with an authentic tribal and epic color while synth and pads are creating a dreamy atmosphere in the second part. A true beauty.
