Review: Allah-Las proudly celebrate the pervading influence of California on their sun-baked sound, but on this new album for Innovative Leisure they've also widened their scope to take in some artfully deployed electronic elements. 'The Stuff' sets out their stall on Zuma 85 in no uncertain terms, as their crunchy 70s guitar tone meets with a subtle electronic pulse and some wry vocoder touches. From their devout psych-rock roots, the band have evolved to take in kosmische, art rock and even a touch of prog in their quest for new strains of sonic enlightenment.

Review: Following a series of self released albums over the past three years which saw them expand on hip hop classics with an auspicious level of jazz virtuosity, Canadian jazz trio Badbadnotgood grace the Innovative Leisure imprint with this enlightening collection III. Consisting of Matthew Tavares on keys, Chester Hansen on bass, and Alex Sowinski on drums, it's not hard to see why Badbadnotgood have been getting the usually hushed toned Gilles Peterson all exciting after a few listens of the nine tracks here. If you dug those cover versions you will love this album.

This time we find the prolific experimenter taking influence from liquid matter and the physicality of digital art as he explores the fertile hinterland between hip-hop, techno and contemporary funk. From neo-R&B swoonery to uncompromised club-tearing grit via industrial strength beat abstraction - featuring collabs with the likes of Trinidad James, 10kCaash, Milk and ZelooperZ - this is one of Jimmy's most far out and explorative bodies of work so far.
