Rush EP (12")
Cat: HPF 002. Rel: 13 Jun 17
Deep House
  1. Whats Up Buddy (5:32)
  2. Different From The Rest (5:24)
  3. Getting Dark (6:01)
Review: Demuja is in a Rush, so we'll make this review short and to the point. The EP sees Salzburg-based deep house man Bernard Weiss continue his recent rich vein of form, which has included outings on RTCT and Muja. On the A-side you'll find the pleasingly chunky beats, held organ chords, toasty bass and sampled blues vocals of "What's Up Buddy", a floor-friendly concoction with enough haziness to please the heads amongst us. Flip for the vintage Prescription Records style goodness of "Different From The Rest" and the woozy warmth of analogue-rich West Coast deep house shuffler "Getting Dark" (which, to be honest, isn't actually that dark).

Deep House
  1. Everydayz (6:30)
  2. Everydayz (Deep mix) (5:28)
  3. Morning Light (6:57)
  4. Apollo 7 (unreleased dub) (6:43)
Review: It bumped the dickens out of us in 2012 and it's about to do it again in 2018; DJ Steaw returns to one of his key pivotal early releases and reboots it on his House Puff imprint with a cheeky unreleased dub. If you don't know the Chandleresque original (or the stripped back deep mix), now is most certainly the time. "Morning Light" sounds just as fresh as well; hazy, finger-clicky, subtly atmospheric, it's still as timeless as it was back on Traxx Underground. Finally Steaw sets us to slow-cook with the bubbling disco funker "Apollo 7". Trippy, woozy and chugging like it's 1982 all over again, even if you picked up "Everydayz" at the time this is worth it for "Apollo 7" alone. Delicious.

Deep House
  1. Keeper (6:05)
  2. Blessed To Dance (5:43)
  3. Spiller (5:41)
  4. Grabber (5:49)
Review: Over and over and over, young German Kevin just continues to deliver pedigree house gold. Classic jacks, slippery grooves, warm feels. Following the likes of Lauren Lo Sung, Demuja and Signal St, Kevin's the perfect fit for House Puff as he dishes out four slabs of sterling. "Keeper" lives up to its name with its crisp groove and hip-snaking hook while "Blessed To Dance" takes us to mid 90s NYC for a Chandler-style bump and glide. Flip for the oceanic chord ripples of "Spiller" and, finally, the sultry, smoky struts the filtered bubbler "Grabber". Grab this while you can...
