Chronic Ensoniq
Cat: HHANDS 015. Rel: 14 Apr 21

Techno
Chronic Ensoniq (6:18)
Ultimate Damage (5:33)
Coming In Hot (7:48)
Oi To The Oi (4:57)
This Is A Brand New Day (4:04)
Review: Holding Hands takes flight on its 15th EP with Gallegos slinging together a wide range of influences across five fine and forceful cuts. As always with this artist, the samples are key to making each tune so jam packed with energy and ideas. 'Chronic Ensoniq' is peak time techno and deep acid both at once, 'Ultimate Damage' manages to have a rave-edge as well as deep and steamy house vibe, and 'Coming In Hot' is both intense and hypnotic. 'Oi To The Oi' is 1 different tunes in one and hard to keep up with, in a good way, and 'This Is A Brand New Day' is a very different kind of party jam.

B45 EP (B-STOCK)
Cat: HHANDS 010 (B-STOCK). Rel: 14 Jan 20

Tonight
Hold On
Review: ***B-STOCK: Creasing to corner of outer sleeve but otherwise in excellent condition***

Showtime ladies and gentlemen, Desert Sound Colony's Holding Hands reaches the big one-oh with Gallegos and Baby Rollen and the results are every bit as sweaty and heavy as you'd hoped they'd be. Gallegos kicks off solo with the acid stampede "Blue Mountain" before Baby comes on board with "Underwater". Strutting breaks with just the right levels of dubby synths and elastic acid; this could easily be a 1999 jam. Flip to the B for some even hairier escapades as "B45" digs even deeper into breakbeat culture with a stripped back b-boy feel and velveteen rave pads before Gallegos finishes the EP with the stunning piano-tickled curveball "SHOULDACOULDAWOULDA". Rave on!
