  3. Some Drum (5:02)
Review: Dolenz has found his spiritual home at Exit. A breeding ground for boundary-free beat creativity, his far-out fusions are in good company in dBridge's house. This label debut is no exception as we're treated to his broadest palette; the trapped bumps and cuts of "Evesdrop", the eastern string glaze and dense harmonies and chimes of "Geminus" and the sub-soaked swagger and planet-gazing dubbed out halftime of "Some Drum" all comprise and compound to make a serious statement of intent. We have no doubt the London artist will be back on Exit very soon.

Drum And Bass
  1. Break Glass (6:11)
  2. 600K (4:42)
  3. Obnox (4:49)
  4. Dissolve (6:52)
Review: Mark System's last outing on Exit, 2015's Final Approach LP, was almost universally praised for its pleasing fusion of bombastic, tech-step influenced bottom end and dreamy, ear-pleasing liquid D&B elements. The long-serving producer has taken a similar approach on this belated follow-up EP. While opener "Break Glass" is a little creepier than previous efforts - if no less punchy and bass-heavy - it retains System's instinctive grasp of the dynamics of light and shade. "600K" brilliantly joins the dots between classic jungle, modern tech-step and 8-bit games soundtracks, while "Obnox" dips crunchy beats in wild electronics to brilliant effect. Best of all, though, is closer "Dissolve", a superior deep space roller that sounds like it was recorded using some vintage electronic hardware.

Review: Level up! Strategy sheds a little light on skills you might not know he's got in the form of "Lanterns", his debut EP. Usually known for rallying up the troops with Dub Phizix and laying down rapid-fire bars, here we find the Salford vibe lord showcasing his beat skills... And they're serious. From the click-boom ricochets of the title track to the rare-cooked menace of "Kings Of Kochi" via the waspy political triple-skipper "Put God First", this is Strategy writing a whole new chapter. Pay attention.

Drum And Bass
  1. Give Up The Ghost (feat Disco Puppet & Nasrawi - Calibre remix) (6:28)
  2. Pick Up The Pieces (feat Boudah - Skeptical remix) (5:23)
Review: Following last year's exemplary album from the Manchester-based soul man Zed Bias, Exit unleash the first batch of remixes, and they come from two of the best in the game. Calibre flips "Give Up The Ghost" with rolling subtleties and a warm, alluring drive that only he can do. Skeptical takes care of the B-side with a similarly on-point twist on "Pick Up The Pieces" where a menu of alien tones and textures lurk and linger in the cavernous spaces. Both deliver.
