  2. Lard (Obergman & Eargoggle remix) (6:26)
  3. Underbite (7:21)
  4. Underbite (Jensen Interceptor & Assembler Code remix) (5:00)
Review: Incoming - straightfire electro bass shenanigans from the ever reliable E-Beamz camp once again, courtesy of Cestrian - the alias of London based veteran Ali Renault. The dark dystopian bounce of "Lard" impresses in its own right, paving the way for a top rework by the legendary Luke Eargoggle (with Obergman) to round up the A side. On the flip, "Underbite" channels the best aesthetics of Motor City style sonic aesthetics, but men of the moment Jensen Interceptor & Assembler Code steal the spotlight with their powerful rendition.

Deep House
  1. Holly Tool (5:02)
  2. Atter Action (4:21)
  3. Buck 'Em Down (5:58)
Review: Man-or-woman of mystery DJ Swagger has been making a lot of appearances on multi-artist EPs of late, often contributing fuzzy chunks of rave-influenced lo-fi house (very 2017). It's perhaps fitting, then, that the cheekily named artist's first solo EP for yonks is being released by E-Beamz, a label that specializes in both retro-futurist club tracks and dubious production aliases. A-side "Holly Tool" sees the swaggering one put ghetto-house through the intergalactic lo-fi house ringer, naturally beefing it up with some skittish breakbeats. On the flip you'll find the two-step garage revivalism of "After Action" and the scuttling techno madness of "Buck 'Em Down", which is propelled forwards by wobbly sub-bass and sweaty electronic motifs.

  1. DJ Windows XP - "I Cried Last Night" (5:13)
  2. DJ Relationship Goals - "Do You Ever" (5:44)
Review: Their names might be a little sarcastic but the sounds are serious: the E-Beamz collective continue to cook up precision grooves. This time Windows XP and Relationship Goals take a side each with two equally chunky, warm and relentless workouts. The former gets their sensual swag on with a purring sample and a whirlwind of boompty bomp around it while the latter chugs out with widescreen kicks and a grainier, trippier sample. Both seriously kill it.

Hydro Systems (12" repress)
Cat: EBEAMZ 021. Rel: 23 Oct 18
  1. Hydro Systems (5:30)
  2. Automate (feat Assembler Code) (4:44)
  3. Bubble Boy (5:47)
  4. Horner Acid (5:31)
Review: Sydney's Jensen Interceptor comes through after a productive and successful 2017, that saw him follow up his material for Boysnoize Records with a killer 12" on the infamous Central Processing Unit. The electro newbie lands with yet more previous industrialism on the E-Beamz imprint, a truly hyping label that is on a non-stop roll at the moment. "Hydro Systems" is a gnarly, headstrong bombshell that's all hands on decks thanks to its wild and fiery percussion, and "Automate" follows up on that with a dark, bleeping wormhole of sonics. The B-side kicks off with "Bubble Boy", a bubbling whirlpool of FX-heavy bass tones, and "Horner Acid" breaks out the techno guns with its twisted, interlinked layers of low frequencies.

EBEAMZ 028 (12")
Cat: EBEAMZ 028. Rel: 06 Nov 18
  1. Jensen Interceptor - "Kinetic Floor" (5:04)
  2. Jensen Interceptor - "Kode" (4:39)
  3. Lake Haze - "Pacific Storm" (3:58)
  4. Lake Haze - "Hydro Blast" (4:26)
Review: For the 28th release on E-Beamz, the London based retroverts have called in two seriously hot producers on a killer split EP. Aussie label staple Mikey Melas aka Jensen Interceptor takes up proceedings on the A side, which features the sleek electro-funk of "Kinetic Floor" and the bouncy alien groove of "Kode" while on the flip, The Hague based Portuguese producer Lake Haze (Unknown To The Unknown/Creme Organization) offers up the fierce, bass-driven dystopianism of "Pacific Storm" and some ethereal futurist vibes on the majestic "Hydro Blast".

  3. Do's FInal Exit (5:46)
  4. 0011 (5:52)
  5. Andromeda Signal (5:35)
Review: Although he's released on both Car Crash Set and XL Recordings, the enigmatic Hugo Massien doesn't seem to be too concerned with hip new flavours or passing trends. Instead, he's simply focusing on his own brand of techno, a dreary-eyed, hybrid kind of flex that recalls the later part of the 90s. For instance, "Almost Becoming Lucid" manages to blend aqueous sonics with sharp-edged semi-breaks and dissipating r&b vocals, while "Chemically Minded" blasts out some industrial rave tones for the small hours. The flipside kicks off with "Do's Final Exit", a bleak and skeletal techno bullet, followed by the glacial tones of "0011", and ending up on a sultry bit of sci-fi rolling by the name of "Andromeda Signal". A different view.

  5. Faith In Chaos (5:49)
Review: Hot on the heels of his Tectonic EP, Berlin-based Brit Hugo continues on his expedition into more broken territories with five fractured forays on E-Beamz. "Where Your Body Begins" sets the tone with menacing bass tones blasting beneath slow jungle rolls before being countered by the Bicep-flexing drifter "The Only Constant Is Change". Deeper again; "Alien Shapes" is the teeth grinder of the set with its rasping, rising venomous acid and brittle breaks, "Circles" re-soothes our soul with a rippling beatless floatation sensation and "Faith In Chaos" throws us in a big bubbly bath of acid for a final hoorah. Hugo Massive more like...

Review: Storage Media AKA Hugo Jay AKA DJ Kush Boogie next on UK lo-fi house merchants E-Beamz who served up that very talked about EP by DJ Boring recently. It is much more of the dusty and dreamy variety: meme house in the vein of Lobster Theremin and we are really digging it! Particularly the crunchy retrovert jack of "002" or the new age groove of "004" with its soothing FM bell tones hypnotising you in style. Nice!
