Review: Conneticut-based rapper Apathy teams up with Boston hip-hop producer Stu Bangas for this gothic, hardcore rap project. Filled with religion-themed vocal samples and unfiltered lyrics, Apathy's flow is consistently tight and the whole attitude of the project is very purist, borrowing from older methods of rap LP creation. Banga's beats are varied and match the energy of the many features lined up, including none other than Jadakiss, Black Thought and Esoteric to name just a few. The structure is very reminiscent of Mad Villain's Madvillainy, a linear story-based narrative that utilises its interludes perfectly, switching between different rap lanes from golden era east-coast flows to the alternative rap of the modern area that figure like JPEGMafia are proliferating, infused with rock references like in 'Malediction'. Eight projects later and Apathy is still proving he can rock the mic alongside an elite cast of guests.
