Dance Of The Happy Shadows (5:51)
I Rarely Talk To Strangers (6:26)
J Is For Jupiter (5:49)
J Is For Jupiter (part 2) (6:07)
Review: Alden Tyrell dusts off his Italo guise for another synthetic sojourn into all things dramatic and cinematic. "Dance Of The Happy Shadows" sets the scene; a Vangelis-themed disco set 50 years in the future. "I Rarely Talk To Strangers" is a more introspective journey with a Moroderish arpeggio peppered with staccato cosmic chords. Both parts of "J Is For Jupiter" drive us towards the tunnel-end light. Overwhelmingly positive chords hit hard on the first part before a spiralling Terjeian hook drives the very final stretch.

Sorrow (7:49)
Sorrow (Space dub) (7:34)
Review: Having been friends and occasional studio collaborators for the best part of a decade, M>O/S Recordings main man Aroy Dee (real name Steve Brunsmann) and Marc Antonio Spaventi can usually be relied upon to bring the goods. While Brunsmann is of course better known for analogue-rich deep techno, his outings with Spaventi usually explore the pair's mutual love of throbbing, synthesiser-powered Italo-disco. That's certainly the case with 'Sorrow', a mascara-clad slab of raw, arpeggio-driven new wave/Italo-disco fusion that comes topped off by a particularly stylish, half-sung, half-spoken lead vocal. Heavier and more breathless dancefloor thrills are supplied by the accompanying 'Space Dub', where the track's pulsating groove is ratcheted up to 11 and periodically submerged in sparkling deep space synths.

Bijou - "Twilight"
De Pin Up Club - "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep"
Peet Need - "Here Comes The Arps"
Impresa Gottardo - "Trafori"
Review: Otto Kraanen's Bordello A Parigi label are on a roll right now, with no less than ten records issued since the turn of the year! One of those was the inauguration of the Riviera Disco series, overseen by Riviera Disco Club selector Julien Tavernier, which got off to a fine internationally flavoured start earlier this month with contributions from Disco Sigaretta, Dilemma and Sauroid founder DJ Gio MC-505. Volume two looks to be just as exotic in sound and international in flavour with Belgian producer Bijou sharing space with cuts from Dutch pair De Pin Up Club and Peet Need and Impresa Gottardo, the new collaboration between Ajello's Philippe Taverio and Jean Paul Lazarre. In need of pumping italo and synth heavy disco? This 12" will satisfy those cravings and then some.

Tutti Quanti (club version) (6:17)
Tutti Quanti (radio version) (3:57)
Review: Bordello A Parigi continue their efforts to remain at the forefront of the Italo renaissance with a wondrous reissue of Casanova's "Tutti Quanti". Marking the steamy French italo ballad's 30th anniversary, this 10" reissue from the label features the original dynamic Club version as well as a previously unreleased radio edit as well as a Bordello A Parigi condom. Yep that's right. Harmonic, hooky and, at points, downright raunchy, "Tutti Quanti" is a bona fide Italo classic and a welcome addition to the collection of any new fan of the genre.

Ab In Die Ewigkeit (4:44)
Review: Frankfurt based retrovert Stefan Haag aka Chinaski is usually more affiliated with the Live At Robert Johnson camp, but finds an equally fitting home here on Bordello a Parigi with his post-Italo exploits. All in all it's a very neon-lit affair on the Unschuld Der Sinne EP, the title track is ever evident of this with its glimmering, laser-ish synths and powerful "Axel F" style arpeggios. However "Surfin' Death" him pursue some more EBM style aesthetics that are currently in vogue. There's more of this style explored on the muscular neon-lit body music of "Ab In Die Ewigkeit which is reminiscent of Belgian legends Front 242.

Acid Maria (Curses remix) (7:15)
Acid Maria (Younger Than Me remix) (5:23)
Review: Napoli has long been home to some superb musicians and producers, with the Italian city's dance music pedigree beyond question. Of the current generation of Neapolitan producers, Daniel Monaco has yet to receive the hype and plaudits of contemporaries Nu Guinea and Mystic Jungle Tribe, but if this single is anything to go be he should. In its original mix form, 'Acid Maria' is simply stunning - a breathlessly sleazy, heavy and mind-mangling fusion of ragged, acid house style TB-303 acid lines, thrusting, Moroder-style electro-disco bass and shimmering but spooky, late-80s Italo-disco riffs. Curses give it a more orthodox Italo-disco-meets-Bobby Orlando Hi-NRG feel on their remixes, while the Younger The Me take is a creepy, trance-inducing techno treat.

Tu Sei Pazza (Whodamanny Reinterpretation) (5:09)
Review: Fresh from his superb hook-up with Sauvage World on Roam Recordings - the brilliantly titled electro/nu-disco fusion of Paninari on Acid - Daniel Monaco makes his bow on Bordello a Parigi with a deliciously throbbing chunk of quirky Italo-disco revivalism. 'Tu Sei Piazza' is propelled forwards by a sequenced, arpeggio-style bassline and vintage drum machine beats, but it's what sits on top - tipsy trumpets, spy-funk guitar licks and FM synth lead lines - that makes the track such a vibrant bundle of fun. Arguably even better is the flipside Whodammy interpretation, which brilliantly re-imagines the track as a kaleidoscopic slab of mid-tempo, mid-80s boogie revivalism.

Magic (6:06)
Review: Vibrant disco-tinged house music from Dutch newcomer Doctr. "Paradise Island" is the ultimate rainbow rave anthem played live and direct through a SNES. Crisp and pixelated, it's the theme tune to your 90s childhood dreams. "Tropique" retains the synth positivity while adding more of a jacking shuffle to the rhythm. Finally "Magic" plays the role of the end-of-night hands-up finale with big piano strikes, subtle harp strokes and humanised harmonic textures. The NHS might be on its knees but as long as there are sonic surgeons like Doctr, our collections will remain more than healthy.

Jupiter Jack (Jupiter mix) (5:17)
Review: Since making his bow as Donald Dust six years ago, Tom Banks has codified a signature sound rich in jacking, Ron Hardy style drum tracks, surging Italo-disco melodies, late '80s European house sounds and 21st century nu-Italo tropes. All these ingredients - and more - can be heard on his latest EP for Bordello a Parigi. Opener 'Nausea', for example, audibly doffs a cap to Koto and Bobby Orlando, while the more percussive, sweat-soaked 'Sick Your Own' remix of the same track provides an energetic, peak-time ready alternative. There are two mixes, too, of 'Jupiter Jack': the new beat-meets-Italo-disco throb of the 'Groovy Mix' and the breathless mid-80s Chicago house flex of the 'Jupiter Mix'. Chiming, synth-pop-goes-electro number 'Noise in the Stairwell' completes a fine package.

Review: Stockholm exports Elfenberg find themselves on Bordello here with four cuts of mind-expanding and life-enriching synth goodness. The skilled duo kick off with the high-speed arps and tight kicks of the retro-future smoother 'Forever Alone' then slow things down to a more Balearic and breezy vibe on 'Conga Coronation' with its finger clicks and lush pads. There is soft acid magic at the heart of 'Sphere Of Missing Out' while 'Cosmic Tribune' lulls you into a nice widescreen cosmic world of tumbling chord sequences and warped bass.

Review: This week on Bordello A Parigi we have a release originally from 1983 on Cinofilm Produzione. Berlin-based, Italian producer Armonics (Slow Motion) came across the 'Radio' 7? by coincidence in 2020 near his home in Southern Italy. Vito Lisco wrote and produced the track together with Renzo Maria La Costa back in the 80's in a basement. The original track has been revised with the vocal parts re-recorded, plus some added guitar riffs and remixed for a modern take on this eccentric Italo production by Evolution (L&L). Limited to 200 copies.

Review: Now here's an Italo treasure trove if we ever heard one. Italian disco legend Fred Ventura recorded these during his transition from State Of Art and Actor's Studio in the early 80s to his status as one of the leading figures in the Italo scene. Previously unreleased and digitally remastered, all laced with his signature introspective vocal, it's the sound of Ventura finding himself and honing his craft before he went on to drop his breakthrough release "Zeit / Hollywood Party" (both of which can be found in demo form on this collection) and set his own Italian pop benchmark. High vaultage.

Review: Rewind to 1987: a young Italian duo check into Hafenklang Studio, Hamburg and follow in the footsteps of Boytronic to celebrate the incredible synth thrust of the 80s in the warmest, most emotional way possible. While The Continental went on to become a cult document, Alboroto never saw the light of day. In fact it was a chance find in a Valencia record story and a long detective saga to even find out who Futuro were... And get their blessing to release it. Luckily they have, and the whole album smacks of synth innocence; flighty melodies, light touch keys and rich analogue beats drive a rich fusion of Balearica, pop and electro that still sounds of another world to this day. 30 years later and their work can finally be celebrated; welcome to the Futuro.

Here he flips the script, indulging his passion for Italo-disco, electrofunk and "Space Boogie" under the G Machine alias. Primo Contatto is, of course, authentic to the period in question, and simply sparkles with hard, funk-fuelled synthesizer lines, forthright modular grooves and, on a number of tracks, classic talk-box vocals. It makes for a thoroughly enjoyable ride, with Damico demonstrating a keen ear for blending insatiable synth hooks with razor-sharp machine-funk rhythms. As a result, highlights are too numerous to mention.

No naked in front of your school assembly business or suddenly realising you've still got exams to do, rather a deep cosmic dream galvanised by raw doses of funk thanks to a slippery slap bass that worms in and out of a hazy weave of synth and pads. "Flying Over The Island" on the B is no nightmare either; a breezy evocative slice of Balearica with infectious harmonic chimes, disco pops and dizzying layers of percussion... It's the perfect wake-up call from the sweetest of dreams. Once again the machine hits the G spot.

Bordello A Parigi always deal in superb Italo disco sounds and this is another case in point - G Race's 'On Fire' surges out of the speakers on bright, buoyant melodies that zip about the skies with all the energy of a collapsing star. Sheet metal perfusion and corrugated rhythms all add to the power. A textured breakdown version is also included and so too an instrumental.

Review: Under The Hasbeens name, Dutch pair Alden Tyrell and Jeroen 'DJ Overdose' Warmenhoven have been collaborating on an intermittent basis since 2006 which is entirely understandable given the respective various projects they both currently have on the go. Maybe is the duo's first release together since I Fall to Pieces and You & Me from 2009, and a welcome debut on the always great Bordello A Parigi label. Whilst previous material from The Hasbeens has, er, been characterised by shifts between restraint and full on Italo cheese, this new release is Tyrell and Overdose on a leaner, more club focused tip. Vocodered vocals, Skatt Brothers style basslines and fast paced techno drums never sounded so good!

The House Of The Rising Synth (DJ Overdose Watch The City Burn remix)
Review: The prolific MinimalRome boss Valerio Lombardozzi dons his familiar Heinrich Dressel guise for a superlative debut record on Bordello A Parigi. With prior contributions from Skatebard, Model Man and Fred Ventura on the label overseen by Otto Kranen, Dressel is in fine company and The House Of The Rising Synth apparently "ushers you into an imaginary movie full of pain and misery". Consisting of three original Dressel productions, it's obviously a short imaginary movie, and typically for a Dressel release it's hard to pick out one highlight. A rich sense of the sinister ripples through the heart of each track, taking on overt tones on the lead title track and appearing in a more subtle manner going forth. The Model Man himself DJ Overdose is present on remix duties too, adding some tough electro vibes to "The House Of The Rising Synth".

Review: On his second Bordello a Parigi outing, Minimal Rome boss Heinrich Dressel has opened up the doors to his "analogue forest" (that's not a euphemism, by the way) and has invited us to get "Lost in the Woodland". It's an invitation worth taking, because there's much to enjoy throughout. Rich in throbbing analogue synthesizers, pulsating cosmic grooves, John Carpenter style melodic themes, Nacho Patrol-esque Afro-chug and sparkling, deep space instrumental synth-pop, it's an album that gleefully sidesteps convention in pursuit of ear-catching electronic gold. It achieves that, of course, and then some. Hacking through electronic undergrowth has never been so much fun.

Hyboid - "Italians & Spacemen" (4:47)
Discobeton - "Discobeton 1" (7:49)
Daniel Monaco & Futuristant - "Summer '96" (5:29)
Captain Mustache - "Red Light Disco" (4:37)
Review: Bordello A Parigi outta Holland is back with another volume in its Diamond In The Night series. As always this is a stargazing collection of expansive future disco. Hyboid's 'Italians & Spacemen' opens up with lush arps and big chords reaching for the heavens. Discobeton then explores a more rueful mood with 'Discobeton 1' and its crystalline chords before the deadly duo of Daniel Monaco & Futuristant layer up machine gun synths and perfect 80s crashing drums into something that will detonate the dance floor. Things close on an intense note with Captain Mustache's 'Red Light Disco.'
