  1. Be Mine Tonight (5:49)
  2. Be Mine Tonight (Ron Basejam dub) (6:02)
  3. Tell Me So (5:28)
  4. Intimacy (5:28)
Review: New London groove duo Funk'N'Sly make their debut on Boogie Cafe's new Neon series with these three juicy electro boogie and soul originals. "Be Mine Tonight" hits with Chromeo levels of charm and sleaze that's backed up to the max by Ron Basejam on absurdly fat remix duties. "Tell Me So" drops its trousers to reveal a crisp set of Speedos and takes a dip into the serene Balearic shores, and "Intimacy" shimmers with some seriously authentic 80s soul feels. Think Soul II Soul era Nellee Hooper. Beautiful.

  1. Home (Piano Vibe) (6:42)
  2. Home (Piano dub) (6:42)
  3. Home (Percussion Vibe) (7:01)
  4. Home (Percussion dub) (6:30)
Review: Rhythm Plate's Goshawk project is the best thing to come out of Matlock Bath since the opening of child-friendly theme park Gulliver's Kingdom in 1978. Here the veteran East Midlands house duo pitches up on Bristol imprint Boogie Cafe, enlists the services of Erik Rico's honeyed tonsils and serves up "Piano" and "Percussion" variants of the rather fine "Home". It's the former versions that reside on the A, with the vocal and Dub variations both making great use of an elastic, rubbery rhythm, jaunty piano riffs and occasional organs. As the title suggests, the "Percussion" versions boast tons of additional drum hits, though it's the smart, old school U.S garage vibe that's really getting our blood pumping.

  1. Embrace The Contradictions (5:34)
  2. Spiral Movement (6:43)
  3. Something Else (6:18)
  4. April (4:35)
Review: Russian craftsman Alexander Lay Far has released his underground disco joints on Local Talk, Leng and his own In Beat Ween Music in recent times. Now the man resurfaces on Bristol's Boogie Cafe with "Reimagine Yourself EP", and it's a fitting home for these bass heavy and sampled based jams. From the pitched-down junglist stepper of "Spiral Movement", to the dusted down, broken beat emotions of "Something Else" or the bittersweet electro-soul futurism of closing cut "April" - this could be some of the best stuff we've heard from the talented Muscovite yet!

Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. Newman - "Chordz"
  2. Ourra - "Tropical Taste"
  3. Chini - "Horizons Of Funk"
Review: The Chordz EP brings it with 3 hot new modern Boogie tracks.

Label Hero Newman opens the release with the title track 'Chordz' - a synth-fuelled dancefloor banger, reminiscent of Harvey Sutherland's recent work. Flip it over and Ourra (aka Simon Tappenden aka 'Pop Out N Play') brings us a truly Tropical treat reminiscent of Palm Trees, Pina Coladas and 80's Miami sunsets. Last but not least, Keyboardist for Brian Ellis, Adam Chini plays 'Horizons of Funk'... a lush down tempo synth funk number bringing the EP to the perfect close.

  1. Yellow Wave (7:03)
  2. In Search (5:49)
  3. In Search (Javonntte remix) (5:28)
  4. Voices (6:08)
Review: The Boogie Cafe label is in the form of its life right now, as this mighty missive from Turbojazz defiantly proves. The Milan-based producer is famed for darting between jazzy broken beat and smooth, soul-flecked house; naturally, both bases are covered here. Top of the tree is "In Search", a punchy and loose-limbed broken beat roller that layers spacey jazz-funk synths and opulent Rhodes riffs atop raw analogue bass and infectious beats. "Voices" offers a jazzier take on broken beat, while "Yellow Wave" is a classic-sounding deep house cut rich in tasty organ stabs, acid bass and starry-eyed electronics. To top it all off, Javonntte has provided a brilliant a bumpin', bass-heavy house rework of "In Search" that's worth the entrance price on its own.
