Originally released in 1983, Mario Acquaviva's sought-after Balearic hit gets a much deserved repress to curb the sharks and bring these evergreen grooves to a wider audience. There are plentiful studio touchstones to appreciate here - a little whisper of Supertramp and Steely Dan alongside more overt disco grooves, with lead track "Notturno Italiano" being the stand-out hit. Review: Archeo Records are at it again with another fine curio from the hidden corners of Italian electronic music history. This time it's the turn of Blue Gas, a one-off electronic disco project from Celso Valli that originally came to light back in 1983. The title track is a sumptuous Balearic diggers dream, all airy pads and laid back funk basslines. Elsewhere "Marie" is a surprisingly uptempo B-side, although here it's squeezed onto the A-side to make room for Manu Acheo's extended edit of "Shadows From Nowhere" which pleasingly drapes itself across the full spread of the B-side.

It's a collaboration between friends Bottin and Lucio Dalla that has never before been on vinyl. 'Lunedi Cinema' was an ident that played before Monday night movies on of one of the main Italian TV channels for many years. This electronic version includes the Martedi Mix from 2008, a Minibar Bonus Track and also a mix by pioneering Italian dream house dons Leo Mas & Fabrice with a Bottin dub sealing the deal. It's a superb package of real Italo music history.

Review: Relative newcomers Infradisco blend a Balearic sound of disco and house for the Italian label Archeo Recordings. Aqua Cheta is a blend of proper electronic examples of Balearic and chill out influences. 'Caduca' (Hear & Now remix) is ideal for the late-night scene with a blend a perfect blend of 80s and 90s but still sounding futuristic. Manu Archeo's remix of 'Dulcis' is a beautiful laid back downtempo jam that shimmers like a hazy day on the beach. We think you will like the organic and mystical 'Fluminea' as well. This EP couldn't finish any better than on the ambient tip with a soul warming float on the marina remix by Ocean Moon. Review: For the label's latest release, the dusty-fingered diggers behind Archeo Recordings have decided to reissue a little-known but undeniably brilliant album from fellow Italians Fulvio Maras, Alfredo Posllipo and Luco Proietta. Recorded in 1992 and originally released in staggeringly low numbers (only 300 were pressed first time around), "Sfumature" drew on a disparate array of influences (think jazz, ambient, new age, fourth world, Afro-cosmic and electronica for starters) and loose-limbed drumming and melodious percussion instrumentation (marimba, glockenspiel etc) with ear-catching synthesizer sounds, sparse drum machine rhythms and occasional improvised vocals. It's a genuinely unique sounding anthem and well worth picking up, especially in this highly limited white vinyl pressing (apparently only 100 of these exist).

Review: Archeo come through with another stunning relic dusted down from a forgotten corner of Italian music culture. Fulvio Maras, Alfredo Posillipo and Luca Proietti originally released Sfumature back in 1992, and it's quite the spectacle to behold. Minimal synths provide an underlay for the tense sustained pads and Maras' tumbling percussion on "Panico Iniziale", while nimble hand drums spiral around woozy brass and delicate chimes on "Trombe Di Alfredo". The mood gets seductively dreamy on "Amori" thanks in no small part to the double bass playing at its core. Highly accomplished, inquisitive and utterly satisfying music occupying its own unique space.

Yawn Yawn Yawn focused primarily on various Balearic-friendly mixes of the title track and some other scattered pieces, and now they've received a much-needed spruce up from Archeo Recordings. The "Dream... Another Reality" versions of "Yawn Yawn Yawn" are laid back to the extreme, revolving around delicate instrumentation and occasional threads of speech and singing. There's a mellow beat behind the "G-Tar Cannyon Mix," and the "Thankful Mix" brings a weightier groove to the table. With the other tracks adding to this utterly smooth, early 90s shake, and spread across three discs, this is the holy grail reissue collectors have been waiting for.

Review: Following in the pioneering steps of his father, the legendary Karlheinz Stockhausen, Markus Stockhausen made quite a splash with his first LP Aqua Sansa, recorded with Jasper Van't Hof. While jazz can be used as a reference point on this highly sought after album from 1980, it's more appropriate to think of the record in terms of freeform timbral expression. There's a fourth world, Jon Hassell-esque charm to pieces such as "Daybreak" while the likes of "Takone" sport a more eerie, minimalist charm. Either way, it's a highly worthy reissue for a much vaunted gem of leftfield music.

Review: Originally released in 1979 on Dominant Records, this double single features production by Italian composers and vocalists Antonio Iglio and Antonio Moxedano. 'Tigre' and 'Gennarino 'O Sioux'' saw extreme demand after becoming instant cult classics. The bass is tight and the vocal melodies are instant foot tappers, you'll be humming it for hours. The original 7" is one of the most wanted and rarest around, with very few copies ever going on the second hand market - reaching the hundreds in some cases - a huge leap forward for the Neapolitan Disco Funk scene, and a testament to the pure talent of these artists in what was arguably the beginning of a golden era for Italian funk and soul.

Review: Archeo know how to hunt down a rare jam and give it the kind of reissue it deserves, so who better to handle this job? Tonica & Dominante was a studio project conceived by Antonio Iglio and Antonio Moxedano, which yielded a couple of singles and an album at the end of the 70s. It's a warm, organic sound before Italo disco swerved hard towards synthesisers and drum machines, and you can see why anyone digging for the rarest grooves would go crazy for the two tracks on this previously rare-as-hell 7". This new Archeo version ports the original tracks onto 12" and folds in two tasteful, clubbed-up dub mixes from Leo Mas & Fabrice.
