Roots/Lovers Rock
  1. Ode To Joy (Babylon Can't Control I) (Ojah remix) (5:02)
  2. Ode To Joy (Babylon Can't Control I) (Ojah remix dub) (5:02)
  3. Ode To Joy (Babylon Can't Control I) (Ruv Bytes mix) (5:02)
  4. Ode To Joy (instrumental - Ojah mix) (5:01)
Review: Alchemy Dubs hits fantastic number five with new versions of this real reggae anthem. "Ode To Joy (Babylon Can't Control I)" by Cornell Campbell and Soothsayers first appeared on "Nothing Can Stop Us" back in 2013 on Strut and now gets remixed and re-dubbed by Ojah and Ruv Bytes. Breezy, sweet rolling grooves with jangling pianos and warm hearted vocal deliveries are all tethered to planet earth by some brilliantly fat bass.

Resilience (limited hand-stamped hand-numbered 7")
Cat: ALDBS 7012. Rel: 12 Oct 20
  1. Resilience (4:04)
  2. Resilience Dub (4:05)
Review: Alchemy serve up their 12th limited edition 7" and it is a real belter. On the first side you'll find 'Resilience,' a melodica version over a 90's inspired steppers riddim. UK dub don Chazbo plays the first verse and then hands over to the Japanese melodica player Yuuri Bamboo for the second. Both have unique styles that shine through and make this a nice and mystical dub with lots to lose yourself in. On the flip is a more stripped down and dubbed out version that brings early morning vibes and was mixed live in analogue by Ojah at his studio.

Lockdown Hope
Lockdown Hope (hand-stamped 7")
Cat: ALDBS 7014. Rel: 30 Mar 21
  1. Lockdown Hope (feat Don Fe) (3:56)
  2. Lockdown Dub (3:57)
Review: Produced by Ojah and recorded at Alchemy Dubs Studios in London, this 14th transmission from Alchemy Dubs - and first of the year - features Don Fe. It is a brilliantly uplifting tune with whimsical leads and marching, steel plated drums that stiffen the back and get you going. It's alluring yet militant and was recorded during the first lockdown of 2020. Dance to the beast, dream to the melodies, and then flip it over for a stripped down dub version mixed by Ojah that cannot fail to give you a sense of that sound system dance vibe.

Over Yonder
Cat: ALDBS 7015. Rel: 14 Jun 21
  1. Over Yonder (feat Nik Torp) (3:50)
  2. Over Yonder (dub) (3:48)
Review: For their 20th vinyl release, London's Alchemy Dubs present a new collaboration between Ojah and Nik Torp. The A side contains the track 'Over Yonder', a deep instrumental dub track featuring wonderful melodica melodies courtesy of Nik Torp, keyboard player in legendary outfit The Specials. Written during the first UK lockdown it certainly is an introspective sonic journey. Over on the B side we go deeper down the echo chamber on 'Over Yonder Dub', a minimalist dub version mixed live by Ojah with analog effects.
