Premiere – Olav Basoski’s new mix of Quazar’s 1990 techno classic ‘The Seven Stars’
Prepare for reissues of the Quazar back catalogue
Quazar are pioneers of the first house and techno generation of the early 90s.
Formed in Amsterdam by producer Gert van Veen (pictured, above), they debuted in 1990 with the 12″ ‘The Seven Stars/Day- glo’, which became an underground hit all over the world, from the UK and Germany to The USA, Goa and Australia. It’s still considered as one of the ultimate classics of the original rave scene.
To celebrate ADE and ahead of their debut album being reissued. Haarlem-based producer Olav Basoski has done a new mix of the ‘The Seven Stars’ to go alongside remastered versions of the three tracks on the original record, on the new ‘EP ‘The Seven Stars’. You can hear the track now, ahead of its release tomorrow, here on Juno Daily.
Basoski told us: “Just like Gert’s earlier work with House of Venus, Quazar’s ‘The Seven Stars’ was one of the groundbreaking Dutch tracks and it was very inspiring for me at the time. I was honoured when Gert asked me to do the mixdown of his new version!”
Gert van Veen, meahwile, says: “We have known Olav Basoski since the early 90s and always have been a big fan of his productions. So for the 2024 edition of The Seven Stars, we asked Olav to do the final mix, as we hoped he could give this recreation, although true to the original spirit of the track, a slightly more modern feel. And he delivered!”
