Peaches to appear at London Barbican premiere of Teaches of Peaches documentary

Film and Q&A session is one of many Doc’ n Roll festival treats

Hugely influential feminist musician, producer, director and performance artist Peaches will answer questions at the premiere of a new documentary at the opening night of Doc’n Roll Film festival’s 11th edition.

Filmed during The Teaches of Peaches Anniversary Tour in 2022, Teaches of Peaches weaves together exclusive archival gems with dynamic tour footage capturing the transformative journey of Canadian Merrill Nisker into the internationally acclaimed cultural powerhouse Peaches. It was directed by Philipp Fussenegger and Judy Landkammer.

From the inception of her stage show to the rigorous rehearsals and riveting performances, the film – premiered at London’s Barbican Cinema on October 24 with a Q&A session with its subject – provides an intimate look at the inner workings of a tour led by a globally celebrated icon.

She’s spent over two decades challenging gender stereotypes, solidifying her status alongside pop and music industry greats. Her fearless originality has challenged social norms, dismantled stereotypes and confronted patriarchal power structures. Via biting wit, she advocates for LGBTQIA+ rights and tackles issues of gender and sexual identity.

The film is one of many highlights of Doc’ n Roll Film Festival’s 11th edition, bringing music docs to venues across the UK. The festival also includes screenings of films on The Selector’s singer Pauline Black, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Devo, Throbbing Gristle’s Genesis P-Orridge and Scottish girl bands.
