Premiere: John Beltran works ‘Sun Circles’ by Gratts into breezy Balearic bliss
‘Sun Circles’ circles back

Belgian-born, Australian-based artist Gratts wrote ‘Sun Circles’ as an empowerment anthem for his two sons, and when it dropped last year it was widely acclaimed.
Among its fans was John Beltran, the Michican based producer whose ambient, downbeat and chilled techno work has been delighting listeners since the 90s. “I LOVE ‘Sun Circles’,” he told Gratts when he received his copy. “Would love to put a nice spin on that. What do you think about a Balearic breezy mix?”
And so, together with a mix by Adelaide’s multi-talented percussionist Alexander Flood bringing his jazz background to the track, the tune is back, in the shape of the ‘Sun Circles Reimagined’ 7″, out on June 17.
Beltran’s mix is a suitably sun-drenched affair gently urged on by exotic percussion, swathes of warm synth pads and gorgeous female vocals – and he and Gratts have kindly given Juno Daily readers the chance to hear it before anyone else.
