The Phase8 prototype is the latest version of Korg’s Acoustic Synthesis instrument.
Debuting at this week’s Superbooth show, the new prototype of the Acoustic Synthesis_phase8 is described as the “first product-leaning prototype” from the city’s experimental offshoot of Korg. The phase8 is the latest iteration of the Acoustic Synthesis_phase5 prototype shown at the same show last year, described back then as “a form of acoustic synthesis which unites the sonic richness of real physically vibrating bodies with electronic control”. The latest prototype is said to be much closer to an eventual product release, falling somewhere between a an ‘acoustic synth’ and a drum machine, with eight independent voices and a built-in sequencer.
Korg Berlin expect to show a release-ready version of the Acoustic Synthesis instrument at Superbooth 2025. For now, you can check out the full Korg range here.
