Oneohtrix Point Never shares ‘Nightmare Paint Video’ as NTS show hits last edition tonight

Final ‘blowout’ of Daniel Lapotin’s chat and and music show is tonight at 10pm UK time

A still from the ‘Nightmare Paint’ promo

Oneohtrix Point Never has shared an Andrew Norman Wilson-directed video for ‘Nightmare Paint‘ from his recently released new album Again.

The disorienting visual portrays a cryptic disassembly line of sorts, where a set of laser-fitted eyes efficiently melts one CD after another until disaster strikes.

The visual arrives on the cusp of today’s broadcast of the final episode of Oneohtrix aka Daniel Lopatin’s NTS-hosted music and talk show Cool Protrusions, with the final blowout episode including guest appearances from Soccer Mommy, BATTLES, Greg Davis, and Weyes Blood and airs on NTS at 5pm NY / 10pm UK / 2pm LA.

The new visual arrives on the heels of a publicly shared creative brief for an as-yet-unrealised “Memories of Music” video, a collaboration with Freeka Tet that now exists as a downloadable zip file of guide images, a treatment for the video, different mixes of the song, an animatic of the planned clip, and more in the hopes that it will inspire fans to create their own versions. More recently Lopatin contributed as executive producer to John Medeski’s 52-track soundtrack for The Curse, the new Showtime television series from frequent OPN collaborator Benny Safdie, and Nathan Fielder.

Again – which includes wide ranging collaborators as Robert Ames, Lee Ranaldo, Jim O’Rourke, Xiu Xiu and lovelivescrushing and is described as an imagined collaboration between Lopatin’s current and younger selves – is set to transfer to the live stage in Spring 2024 with shows spanning the US, Europe and Asia.
