Premiere – Marcellus Pittman’s bumper bumping ‘Another Spring Lover’
Advance listen from the ‘Eastside’ EP
“If Michael Jackson, Prince and Herbie Hancock ask you to be part of their band, are you going to say no?”
So said Marcellus Pittman, rather wittily, when The Guardian interviewed the Detroit producer and asked him why he’d joined Three Chairs, the Motor City supergroup whose members include Theo Parrish and Moodymann.
As a solo producer and DJ he’s played a key role in the development of the city’s now world famous techno scene since the 90s, although he actually started out with local hip-hop groups and got his break playing alongside Mike Huckaby at Three Floors Of Fun, a Detroit party where a mixed crowd danced to rock, techno and hip-hop.
He’s collaborated with Parrish and Omar S, but he’s best known for a string of gritty but groovy solo releases of which his four track ‘Eastside’ EP is the very latest.
The EP, out on the Adeen label, isn’t available until December 4, but Marcellus has generously given Juno Daily readers the chance to hear ‘Another Spring Lover’ right now.
