Premiere: Hear the new streamlined techno masterpiece from Sterac AKA Steve Rachmad, ‘Muff Case’
Dutch maestro Steve Rachmad, known as Sterac, and Belgian techno boss Kr!z, have joined forces on the ‘Lightworks’ EP, with each delivering two tracks on different sides of the same 12″.
The EP is out on July 17 via Rotterdam-via-Berlin-based label Reclaim Your City, who’ve very kindly let Juno Daily readers get an advance listen to the opening track, a super sleek techno workout that combines as much economic, subtle musicality as does rhythmic punch.

Sterac aka Steve Rachmad told us that the titles of both ‘Muff Case’ and his other contribution ‘Strike Icer’ were inspired by the Dutch language. “‘Muff Case’ comes from the the Dutch word mafkees. This is sort of how you would have to pronounce it to make it sound Dutch. It means freak. ‘Strike Icer’ comes from the Dutch word strijkijzer which means Iron (for clothes) and again how you would have to pronounce it to make it sound Dutch. Just for fun, no special meaning behind it :-)”
Kr!z, who also runs the esteemed Token label, said of his tracks: “‘Sorcerer’ is inspired by one of my favorite Jeff Mills tracks, called ‘Medicine Man’, hence the title. It’s a track I made in 2021 that never really left my DJ sets. I’m excited to finally release it, back to back with one of my other personal heroes!
“‘Lightworks’ I made especially for this release, right after RYC asked me for this project. I always loved the word ‘Lightworker’, which is a person who commits his life to helping other people. The crispness of the synth also gives it a kind of electric feel, caused by lightning.. Yeah I was probably overthinking the title!”
