Wiggle stages Mind charity benefit in memory of co-founder Nathan Coles
Wiggle – An Ode To Nat will “touch upon mental health: the good and the bad”
Wiggle is to stage a charity fundraiser for mental health charity Mind in memory of Nathan Coles.
The long standing tech-house night was started by Coles and Terry Francis in 1994, but it was announced in February by his family that Coles had taken his own life after a battle with mental illness issues.
A statement on the Wiggle Instagram account said: “When promoting this party, we wanted to touch upon mental health: the good and the bad.
“Every person that met Nathan would tell you the same thing: he channelled love into the world and would go out of his way to make your day in a heartbeat. Which presumably would end in a painful bout of belly laughter and silly faces. However, he found it hard to save enough of that love for himself. And, without the support of our late mum, Louisa, at his side, even more, difficult to commit to any meaningful therapy. Nathan never hid these challenges and wore his heart on his sleeve. So, if there’s one thing to learn, talking isn’t the last step; it’s the first. Talk about your problems, but take action. Your mental health needs the respect it deserves.
“For this reason, we will be donating a portion of the profits of An Ode to Nat to Mind, a charity working to promote positive mental health across England and Wales. And, if you or a loved one are struggling with what we mentioned above, please refer to our bio for resources. See you all on the dance floor soon, much love x”
Wiggle – An Ode To Nat takes place at The Cause at 60 Dock Road, London E16 on July 21.
