Acid Klaus shares new track ahead of EP, plus Yard Act/Pye Corner Audio mixes and Albert Hall date

“I’d better buy a new hat” remarks Flanagan

Acid Klaus has shared a new track from a forthcoming EP which will include a remix from his label bosses Yard Act.

The EP, the first release from the project put together by Adrian Flanagan (founder of The Moonlandingz/The Eccentronic Research Council and more) since his 2022 album Step On My Travelator: The Imagined Career Trajectory Of Superstar DJ & Dance Pop Producer Melvin Harris, which was Juno Daily’s album of the year last year.

On the track he teams up Sheffield based singer Philly Piper, who has collaborated with DJ Parrot and I Monster among others.

Flanagan saaid: “The track was inspired by a memory from a nightclub in Manchester years ago. This middle-aged man dressed as Michael Jackson took to the dancefloor and let loose with all the MJ moves. Within moments he was surrounded by people wanting to dance with him. Me and the other jealous 20-something-year-old lads were standing there laughing at him and calling him a freak, when really he was just having the time of his life and not harming anyone. Funnily enough, I’m now that middle aged man, slightly more comfortable in my skin, pulling all the shapes, whilst being laughed at by snotty young adonises with no moves! I’m proud of being a freak, everyone should embrace their inner freak!”

The You’re a Freak EP is also set to feature remixes from Yard Act, Baba Ali, W. H. Lung and Pye Corner Audio’s alter ago Head Technician.

Acid Klaus has been busy supporting Yard Act – whose Zen FC label put out the album – and will be on tour in the UK across the summer including The Great Escape, Stag & Dagger and Focus Wales, with a massive show supporting Roisin Murphy at The Royal Albert Hall on May 11. On his Facebook page, Flanagan, known for his trademark head gear, quipped: “I’d better buy a new hat”.

The EP is yet to be pencilled in but will arrive “this summer”
