Premiere – hear Ascion’s abrasive breakbeat freakout ‘Plugged (Heavy-Rotation Mix)’ first here
Track is taken from forthcoming V/A comp from the Berlin label
The REPITCH label started back in 2011 with a 12″ split three ways between its co-founders Pasquale Ascione (Ascion), Davide Carbone (D. Carbone) and Nino Pedone (Shapednoise).
Fast forward to 2022 and the label’s co-founders are celebrating a decade (and a bit) of electronic extremity with a nine track double vinyl collection of the labels leading artists doing what they do best – making shitkicking experimental grooves designed to melt not only your speakers but your brains too.
The V/A is collection – Dys Functional Electronic Music X – pushes at the edges of the experimental techno genre, whether that be through speed and heaviness (see Buttechno’s pummeling ‘Ghost Yunost’), smashed up arrangements like opening tune ‘Mastice Riddim (VIP Mix)’ from Shapednoise and Gabber Eleganza or reconnection with the ruffneck breakbeats that were once an integral part of rave culture (Ascion’s ‘Plugged’ (Heavy-Rotation Mix) and DJ Plant Texture’s ‘Threat The Music With Respect’).
The label have granted us the privilege of sharing a track from the album – co-founder Ascion’s effort ‘Plugged’ (Heavy-Rotation Mix) – for the very first time. It’s not for the faint hearted – nothing on the album is – but with its Meat Beat Manifesto-style grainy, degraded breakbeat and an edgy production, it’s every bit as funky as it is demonic.
