New SPD-SX Pro is Roland’s flagship sampling pad
The classic percussion pad series gets a new high-end model.
Just announced by Roland, the SPD-SX Pro marks a new flagship model in the popular SPD range. Blurring the lines between drum pad and sampler, the SX Pro builds on the existing SPD-S with an even more impressive feature set: balanced master and assignable outputs, expression control, higher-quality sound, large LCD screen and more.
With roots stretching all the way back to the original 80s Octapad series, Roland’s SPDs are performance instruments based around sample playback. Drummers love them for their responsive feel, but they’re also perfect for live performance and songwriting even if you’re not a drummer. The SX Pro offers a huge range of options, with 32 GB of internal memory offering nearly 44 hours of stereo sample time in 48 kHz resolution, including 43 factory preset kits. You can watch Roland’s comprehensive intro video above.
The SPD-SX Pro is expected later this year. You can check out the full Roland range here.
