Exclusive – Berlin minimal king Stefan Goldmann shares ‘Valkumey’ from his Vector Rituals album
LP, out on May 6, sees the minimal master experiment with shifting time signatures and ancient percussive rites
Stefan Goldmann has shared a track from his challenging, shapeshifting new album Vector Rituals exclusively with Juno Daily today.
The album is not due out until May 6 but Goldmann and Macro Recordings have shared one of its many highlights, the track ‘Valkumey’, ahead of release.
Goldmann is well known for his acclaimed operations on the more atmospheric side of minimal techno, having recorded extensively for labels as acclaimed as Classic, Ovum and Cocoon, as well as Macro.
Vector Rituals continues his mission to cunningly subvert the well worn formulas of the genre. Time signatures begin to shift, rolling one into another, leaving the listener gloriously unsure of what will happen next, while all the time still moving along with a sense of chugging momentum. The sound spectrum, meanwhile, sees electronics rubbing shoulders with metal percussion from some ancient rite or ritual.
