Exclusive: Telefis share video for new Thomas Leer remix of ‘Archbishop Beardmouth…’

Duo share promo for Leer’s mix of ‘Archbishop Beardmouth at the ChemOlympics’ exclusively here

Telefis – the much lauded new project from Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney/Fatima Mansions) and producer Jacknife Lee (U2, Peter Buck, Taylor Swift) – have shared a new Thomas Leer remix and accompanying video exclusively with Juno Daily.

The mix is part of the final salvo from the recently released debut album a hAon., a five track digital EP with Leer’s mix and a radio edit of ‘Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics’ joining new versions of “Picadors”, “Ballytransnational”, and “There Goes Waterface” by Jacknife Lee with spoken word guest appearances from family and friends.

On the Thomas Leer collaboration, Jacknife notes…“the only piece of music discussed during the first call with Cathal in 2020 was “Private Plane” by Thomas Leer. It was a pivotal record for both of us. It changed us when we heard it first and reunited us when the idea of Telefís emerged. Thomas Leer! Thomas Fucking Leer! My fantasy has come true”.

Telefís is the Irish Gaelic word for television – pronounced Tele-feesh – and the video for ‘Archbishop…’ (made by Lee) is very much in keeping with the album’s theme of shared surreal cultural memories from the country’s only station RTE in the 70s and 80s,

With Jacknife now based in Los Angeles and Cathal based in London, the two spent 2020 trading ideas and musical files during lockdown, hatching plans for a satirical, mischievous examination of Irish history and pop culture in their lifetimes, what the two have labelled ..”a corrosive nostalgia”.
