A bigger brother to the hugely popular TRM-202, the 422 promises all the high-end features of a boutique mixer at half the price.
Newly announced from German hardware specialists Omnitronic, the TRM-422 is a hugely exciting addition to the brand’s range of DJ mixers. With a combination of four rotary channels plus a crossfader, the obvious comparison would be with a boutique mixer like the Mastersounds Radius 4V. The biggest and most obvious difference is probably the price of the unit: coming in at £805, the 422 is well under half the price of most boutique mixers.
That lower price point doesn’t mean the new model lacks for features, with two mic inputs, three-band master isolator, booth EQ and multi-mode resonant filter. Each channel has two line inputs and one phono input, gain control, three-band EQ and clearly laid-out controls for filtering, crossfader assignment and cueing. There’s a send and return for external effects, while digital DJs are also catered for with timecode outputs on each channel. Omnitronic hint that the sound quality of the unit is a step up from the TRM-202, which has a good but fairly neutral sound.
