Premiere – Soft as Snow share ‘Always On’ from Bit Rot album
New LP set for release at the end of January
Norwegian-born, Berlin-based electronic duo Soft as Snow have shared ‘Always On’ from their second full-length effort Bit Rot exclusively with Juno Daily.
The pair “explore ideas around human digitization and fusion of the synthetic with the organic” on the LP, which is set for release on January 21. The corroded sonic cyberspaces of the album “provide a wide variety of zones in which pleasure and discomfort come together seamlessly”.
The LP was mixed by Ville Haimala of fellow Nordic experimentalists Amnesia Scanner, and the striking cover art features a sculpture by Norwegian artist Camilla Steinum. The duo are planning on further expanding their visual offering with music videos and a live A/V show in collaboration with 3D modelling artist Guynoid.
Soft as Snow is the collaboration of musicians/producers Oda Egjar Starheim and Øystein Monsen, whose work exists in a hybrid of deconstructed pop and club culture, forming what The Wire described as “electronic music pushed to the brink of collapse”.
