Mount Kimbie release two new tracks ‘Black Stone’ and ‘Blue Liquid’
‘Black Stone’ video is “about waiting, moving and stopping”
London post-dubstep experimentalist duo Mount Kimbie have released two new tracks, ‘Black Stone’ and ‘Blue Liquid’, marking the fourth anniversary of their album Love What Survives. The two new tracks are leftovers from the album’s initial jam sessions.
Like the album, both new tracks aim for Mount Kimbie’s newest trademark style: a mixture of electronics and a post-punk backdrop.
Along with the announcement comes a music video for ‘Black Stone’, commissioned by Mount Kimbie’s longtime friend and artistic collaborator Frank Lebon, and directed by artist Peter Eason Daniels:
“The video is about waiting, moving and stopping. Collective moments of solitude experienced between one place and another”, Daniels says.
In the past year, Mount Kimbie produced and featured on tracks for Slowthai’s ‘Tyron’; and have designed and created music for Undercurrent, an installation addressing the climate crisis through new interactive multimedia installations, with contributions by Grimes, Bon Iver and The 1975.
‘Black Stone’ and ‘Blue Liquid’ are both available to download now., with a white vinyl 12″ version set to follow.
