Arturia announce limited-edition MicroFreak Vocoder Edition
The brand also announced a surprising new feature for owners of the original version.
Arturia have announced a limited-edition version of their excellent MicroFreak hybrid synth. The MicroFreak Vocoder Edition sports a slick new white paint job, but the clue’s in the name when it comes to the biggest new feature, a 16-band vocoder mode.
Arturia’s own gooseneck microphone is an optional extra with an RRP of £25, but the MicroFreak Vocoder Edition can also use third-party mics with a suitable TRRS connector.
Existing MicroFreak owners will also be able to join in the fun, as Arturia have revealed that the headphone port on the standard version is also a TRRS socket, which means that you can plug in a compatible mic and access all the vocoder features via a firmware update.
The Arturia MicroFreak Vocoder Edition is expected soon, with an RRP of £299. The standard MicroFreak is available now, priced at £230.99.
