DJ Python brings deep reggaeton to Proibito
Anthony Naples’ label claims the DJ Wey alias is a pioneer for the genre.
The haziness surrounding the identity of the man known as both DJ Wey and DJ Python has dissipated as the year has rolled on. Queens-based Brian Pinyero is the individual in question, resident at the Sweet & Low parties alongside recent Future Times debutant Will DiMaggio as well as co-host of the Brian and Brian’s ‘open house party’ alongside namesake Brian ”Huerco S.” Leeds. Chronologically speaking, we have Ital’s Lovers Rock to thank for introducing us to the way of the Wey, with Pinyero first popping up under the name on a split 12″ for the label in 2014. A full 12″, Introduccion, followed last year with Lovers Rock also scoring the DJ Python debut on another recent split release.
After the recent news of a DJ Wey 12″ for Entro Senestre’s BANK Records NYC, Pinyero further stakes his claim over the New York techno landscape with news of a DJ Python record for the Proibito label operated by Anthony Naples. Due out later this month, the three-track Estereo Bomba! 12″ is described by the artist himself as “New York City’s first DEEP Reggaeton single” and you can get a taste of how this micro-genre sounds via the below stream of the delightful, delay-laden B-side closer “Sunset Drive.” The addition of DY Python continues a strong run of releases for Proibito with the excellent second album from Huerco S. augmented by 12″s from Hi & Saberhagen and Hank Jackson & Anthony Naples.
Proibito will release Estereo Bomba! by DJ Python on July 28.
