The Head Technician revisits Zones
Ecstatic will release a vinyl edition of the limited tape from the man otherwise known as Pye Corner Audio.
The amount of music Martin Jenkins (pictured above) has committed to various formats under the name Pye Corner Audio would satisfy most other artists, but this hasn’t stopped the highly-regarded studio engineer turning his hand to other aliases in recent times. The album he released as The House In The Woods for Exotic Pylon back in 2013 is worth investigating, whilst last year Jenkins turned out on Zones, a limited cassette on Sam Willis and Ale Natalizia’s Recordings under the name The Head Technician. Recorded using the Roland TR-606, MC-202 and TB-303, the six tracks were stripped back compositions geared towards the dancefloor.
Therefore, it makes sense to hear that Ecstatic have now elected to revisit Zones, granting The Head Technician the formats his productions are more suited to with vinyl and digital editions due imminently replete with vivid new artwork. Those seeking further clarity regarding the stylistic differences between The Head Technician and Pye Corner Audio will find solace in the Ecstatic press release: “Where PCA’s pieces may tend to be lustrous, optimistic, the Head Technician’s Zones LP hems to the shadows of the ‘floor with a furtive, noirish quality that works a treat in the right situations.” Jenkins is no stranger to Ecstatic, having previously contributed to an espionage-themed album alongside Natalizia as Not Waving.
Ecstatic will release Zones by The Head Technician on July 8.
