Joakim Cosmo boards the Night Ferry to Helsingborg
The unsung Swedish selector is the latest to helm a mini-album for the Börft label.
In the interview that accompanied the wonderfully bizarre Börft Crew mix that made up Juno Plus Podcast 136, founder Jan Svensson shed some light on the ratio of music submissions that actually sees release on the Swedish label. “A lot…of demos I can tell you. Only 1 of 100 or less results in some kind of release,” Svensson admitted, adding Börft is more likely to build on relationships with “artists that already have a foot in the soup.” This process has played out with the likes of Simon W and Five O’Clock Traffic returning to cause further electronic mayhem for the Börft cause this year.
The end of summer will see Helsinborg-based Joakim Cosmo ingratiated further into the Börft fold with one of those mini-albums the label seems to have a taste for. Described as one of Sweden’s finest DJs, Cosmo first appeared on Börft with a contribution to the Lackmus Compilation the label put out in late 2014. The upcoming Nattfärja till Helsingborg (which translates to Night Ferry to Helsingborg) offers Cosmo the platform to showcase his wares across six diverse productions which can be previewed below. We are also big fans of the MS paint profile of Cosmo depicted on the artwork for his Börft mini-LP.
Börft Records will release Nattfärja till Helsingborg by Joakim Cosmo in September.
