Rat Life Records introduces Konstantin Tschechow

RLR

Credit 00’s label prepares to release the Belgian artist’s first solo record in addition to a EP of his own.

Following the sonic escapades of Rat Life has turned into a steady source of entertainment for our editorial with the Dresden label reliably delivering a steadfast supply of party material ranging from colourful techno bombs to darker post punk, EBM and electro cuts. In January, Finland’s Mono Junk burst out of the ranks with the State Of Funk EP, described by Richard Brophy as “dangerously unhinged,” which followed records by Thomas Smorek’s Sneaker project and the Every Mauser & Browning EP by elusive Swedish minimal wave act The Pagan Rites. The label’s second release this year, and eighth overall since it surfaced in 2014, comes from Konstantin Tschechow, a new name reportedly hailing from Belgium, with a five-track EP called Alpha Omega.

A highly entertaining press release recounts the chance bump in Rat Life had with Tschechow in the German countryside where the pair serendipitous found out they were “both Grandsons of Afrika Bambaataa,” with rumours circulating Tschechow became “the sound man for reincarnated John Lennon on various tours around Galaxy Mt23.” With instructions to release Alpha Omega during an Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in 2016, Tschechow delivers Rat Life a bevy of acid, electro, techno and rave largely fuelled by an overworked 909.

Furthermore, Rat Life boss Credit 00 is also lining up his fourth release for Uncanny Valley called Tribal Rhythm Machine which presents four “Jungle Funk and sublime Party bombs,” with Chicago house and ghetto club tracks the overarching inspiration. The release of Tribal Rhythm Machine swiftly follows Stefan Haag’s debut on Uncanny Valley as Chinaski in addition Panthera Krause’s Umami EP.

Rat Life will release Alpha Omega by Konstantin Tschechow on May 23 and Uncanny Valley will release Tribal Rhythm Machine by Credit 00 on May 16.
