Yearning Kru explores the Copper Vale
The Quantum Natives affiliate will release a new album through Planet Mu in March.
After the fine year Planet Mu had in 2015, we’ve been quite excited to see what Mike Paradinas and his label associates had planned for release over the coming months. Having recently announced a modular noodling album from Venetian Snares will arrive on the label next month, Planet Mu plunge wonderfully off-piste with the news they plan to release a new album from Yearning Kru. First surfacing on the Juno Plus radar with a contribution to the Kaleidoscope Limited Dubs series from patten in 2013, Yearning Kru’s music has largely appeared in digital form through the Quantum Natives platform or self-released.
With this in mind, Yearning Kru’s alliance with Planet Mu for the upcoming nine-track album Copper Vale represents the most high-profile release yet for the Tapei-based artist. Due for release in early March, Copper Vale consists of recordings made throughout South Korea and Taiwan and is said to continue his musical exploration of the “world-building aspect of various literary fantasy environments,” especially Gormenghast and Dune. Additionally, Copper Vale continues the A&R role Knives pair Jamie ‘Kuedo’ Teasdale and Joe Shakespeare first took up with Planet Mu for last year’s J Lin album.
Planet Mu/Knives will release Copper Vale by Yearning Kru on March 4.
