Palms Trax takes the High Point On Low Ground
The Berlin-based producer will return to Dekmantel with a new EP next month.
Jay Donaldson has certainly had a strong start to his production career as Palms Trax. From two EPs for Lobster Theremin in 2013 and 2014 respectively, the fresh-faced Berlin-based producer has leapt onto the wider electronic music radar with his infectious brand of house music and refreshing honesty when interviewed. March saw Donaldson align with Amsterdam powerhouse Dekmantel on the In Gold 12″, and he can now be considered a fully-fledged member of the label’s family with DJ sets at their summer festival as well as showcase events throughout the year. Having delivered a small clutch of remixes this year too, Donaldson’s next Palms Trax release brings him back to Dekmantel for their first release of 2016, the High Point On Low Ground EP.
Due to land in late January, the three-track 12″ finds the Dutch label following on from an end of year that included heavy-hitting albums from Joey Anderson and Basic Soul Unit, not to mention the widely-lauded reissue of Fatima Yamaha’s What’s A Girl To Do? Comprised of three tracks of red-blooded club tackle, High Point On Low Ground screams crossover potential for Donaldson with its clearly defined melodic hooks and anthemic thrust, not least on the “I Feel Love”-baiting bassline of “Cloud City”. You can preview the record below.
Dekmantel will release High Point On Low Ground by Palms Trax on January 25.
