Poly Kicks reboots with fresh Tessela
The first release on the label in almost two years will land in January.
When Poly Kicks launched back in March 2013, it landed a rather meaty debut punch in the form of Tessela’s Hackney Parrott with the title track perhaps that year’s most potent rewiring of sampled jungle breaks. This promising start for the label was side-tracked somewhat as R&S coaxed Tessela into delivering a succession of 12″ releases for them which concluded with Bottom Out earlier this year. Tessela also collaborated on an unlikely but excellent record with Shangaan figurehead Nozinja, Wa Chacha, which came via Bleep in February sporting one of our favourite covers of the year.
News arrives that Poly Kicks will be relaunched in January, with Tessela at the helm on Luv Mix/Tenner Eclipse, the first of two planned 12″s from the producer to herald the label’s return. Now revealed as a brotherly venture with his sibling, Tom ‘Truss’ Russell, Poly Kicks promise new material from the latter as the year progresses as well as a series of ‘locked groove’ records compiled by invited guests. You can preview Luv Mix/Tenner Eclipse below with both tracks having featured in mixes from Hodge, Ben UFO, and Midland over recent months.
Poly Kicks will release Luv Mix/Tenner Eclipse by Tessela in January 2016.
