Bremen are Eclipsed

The Swedish duo are due for a return to Blackest Ever Black with a new LP in December.

Swedish underground punk figures Lanchy Orre and Jonas Tiljander arrived on Blackest Ever Black in June last year with their second album together as Bremen, a union that typified the Berlin label’s reputation for confounding expectations. Merging elements of krautrock, drone, and progressive rock, the instrumental swagger of Second Launch was the last we had seen of Bremen until this year when they contributed a track to the US-only I Can’t Give You The Life You Want compilation issued on Blackest Ever Black.

December will see Orre and Tiljiander return with an album-length flourish in the shape of the 14-track Eclipsed, their third album as Bremen. A typically wordy press release from the label posits that this new album “could be construed as a warmer, more dynamic and variegated offering” than Second Launch, whilst reeling off an intriguing array of influences including “the cranked, psychic roar-out riffage of Hawkwind,” and the “sloppy, lo-fi psychedelic rock from the likes of Parson Sound and Trad Gras och Stenar”. You can stream the opening track “On Board” below for an idea of what to expect from this new Bremen album.

Blackest Ever Black will release Eclipsed by Bremen in December.
