Dez Williams plays Sleight Of Hand for Shipwrec
The British electro stalwart signs up to the Dutch label for a new EP.
From a debut album on SCSI-AV to spots on labels Ai, Cheap and Earwiggle, Dez Williams’ head has been down for more than ten years, putting out a hefty body of work. His route into electronic music has been devoid of trend and hype, with focus instead on a personal sound that explores the depth and breadth of electro, techno, and plenty in between. In more recent times Williams has found himself snapped up by the likes of Bedouin Records, while his own Elektronik Religion label continues to carry solid chunks of his output.
In a further sign that his talents are gaining more recognition, Dutch label Shipwrec have revealed they are releasing a five-track EP from Williams next week. So far this year the label has put out EPs from Ochre, Chris Moss Acid and The Valley And The Mountain, as well as the 214 album North Bend. Williams’ Sleight Of Hand deals in different levels of intensity, from up-tempo electro belter “Reach The Void” to haunting techno incantation “Dyre Strayt”, all powered by a rich and detailed production that keeps the interest level high throughout. The test pressings did the rounds back in May, although it’s unclear what has held up the full release of the record. Check the video embedded below to get a taste of the sound Williams has conjured up ahead of the 12″ arriving in shops next week.
Shipwrec will release Sleight Of Hand by Dez Williams on September 28.
