Monuments are From The Future
Mannequin will refocus their attentions on a key band from the Turin scene of the 1980s.
If you are after some vinyl-shaped insight into why Turin was referred to as “The Italian Sheffield” during the 1980s, Mannequin is the label for you. Alessandro Adriani’s operation has spent the past few years extensively documenting the various bands active during this period, with some excellent releases focussing on Musumeci in particular. Another Turin band highlighted by Mannequin is Monuments, a two-piece formed of Andrea Costa and Mauro Tavella whose sole release Age was reissued by the label back in 2013, having previously featured on the compilation Danza Mecanica.
September will see Mannequin further detail the Monuments story with From The Future: The 1982-1983 Tapes, an album compiled from previously unreleased demo tapes recorded by Costa and Tavella when they first started out. One of the tracks featured, “Clock’s Room” ended up on their aforementioned LP but the rest have remained unheard until now. You can stream that demo version of “Clock’s Room” below. News of the archival LP marks the onset of a busy few months for Mannequin with a reissue of the Zombie Holocaust OST planned along with 12″ releases from Maoupa Mazzocchetti and Sean Pierce of ASSS among other things.
Mannequin will release From The Future: The 1982-1983 Tapes by Monuments in mid-September.
