Call Super returns to Houndstooth
JR Seaton’s second 12″ of the year, Migrant / Meltintu, will arrive on fabric’s in-house label next month.
Having yesterday announced plans to release a debut album from Aïsha Devi, Houndstooth are set to welcome back one of the artists whose music helped first establish the label. JR Seaton’s work as Call Super has become closely tied with Houndstooth, with the UK-born producer (pictured above in Alex Solman illustrated form) responsible for their inaugural release back in 2013 as well as serving up a most memorable debut album in Suzi Ecto, which ranked number one in our top LPs of 2014. Earlier this year, Berlin label Nous coaxed Seaton away from the Houndstooth bosom for the excellent Fluenka Mitsu 12″ but he’s set to return to home base next month.
The two-track Migrant / Meltintu 12″ should appeal to fans of Seaton’s aforementioned Nous release, with Houndstooth describing the record as a further expression of his “detailed, quixotic sound with his palette of shady drums and svelte bass work.” Regular listeners of the Hessle Audio show on Rinse FM should be familiar with the lead track “Migrant” which was given an airing on the most recent show hosted by Ben UFO. The B side “Meltintu” can be streamed below.
Houndstooth will release Migrant / Meltintu by Call Super on September 25.
