Batu announces Timedance label
The rising Bristol producer has set up the platform for “hybrids and mutations of UK techno” with the debut release due next month.
Batu is one of several fresh talents to have emerged from the Bristol area in recent years, first surfacing on Pinch’s Cold Recordings in 2013. His style of dense, bass-heavy club music has much in common with the productions of Hodge and Beneath, and a follow-up single for Livity Sound’s Dnuos Ytivil label later that year continued to mark him out as a producer to keep an eye on.
Though he’s been quiet since, with only a contribution to Tempa’s Allstars Vol. 7 last year, news has now emerged that the producer will return with a new single on his own freshly-minted label. Going under the name Timedance, the new label is said in a press release to “offer a platform for hybrids and mutations of UK techno,” with Batu confirming to us via email that the label will be a platform for his own productions and those of other artists.
The first single – released late next month – features two new Batu tracks, “Cardinal” and “Domino Theory”. The latter can be streamed below courtesy of Boiler Room, and looks to make good on the label’s promise, with a hefty piece of UK-influenced club gear driven by a twisting and distorted synth line. The record will be launched in Bristol on February 20 at the Cavern Club, where Batu will be joined by Beneath and Transient.
Timedance will release the Cardinal 12″ by Batu in late February.
Tracklisting:
A1. Cardinal
B1. Domino Theory
