Vril enters the Portal
The Giegling associate will issue a new album through Delsin next month.
It’s fair to say the Weimar-based Giegling collective have enjoyed their most successful year to date, scooping first prize in the top labels list over on Resident Advisor. Aside from crafting some Kurt Russell-based puns on the Kettenkarussel LP, our own personal Giegling-related highlight this year came from the label’s most well-travelled artist, Vril, and his debut album Torus for their Forum offshoot. It was an unchallenged suggestion for our top albums list and a powerful statement from an artist whose music has also appeared on Delsin, Semantica and Marcel Fengler’s reignited IMF label.
Online mutterings of a more comprehensive release from Vril on Delsin have now been confirmed with the Amsterdam label revealing their first release of 2015 will be his second album Portal. Due to arrive at the end of January, news of the eight-track album arrives with the following press release, which is quite worthy of such an enigmatic figure:
“One day Vril sat down in his station and suddenly a Portal opened. Thru a kind of timehole infinitive moments passed by. Luckily he was able to capture a few of those to share with us. The Portal closed. Nothing was left, no questions.. only this LP.”
Delsin will release Portal by Vril on January 29.
