Pioneer announces USB-only XDJ-1000 player
The touchscreen-equipped device has all the functionality of its CDJ line without the CD player.
With CD drives going the way of the dinosaur in everything from home computers to hi-fi systems, it was only a matter of time before the CDJ went the same way, and Pioneer has today announced the XDJ-1000 player, essentially a USB-only CDJ without the CD drive. Taking a similar form to its high end CD-equipped CDJ-900 Nexus player, the XDJ-1000 comes equipped with full-size jog wheels and a colour touch screen.
With a recommended price of EUR 999, the XDJ-1000 is moderately less expensive than its CDJ-900 Nexus player, and half the price of its CDJ-2000 Nexus player. Considering the new player is fully compatible with Pioneer’s Rekordbox software, is also able to upload tracks via wi-fi, and comes with a host of high-end features like auto loop, hot cues, slip mode, quantize and beat sync, Pioneer’s claim the XDJ-1000 is “the perfect springboard from the bedroom to the booth” may well prove to be true. Interested parties can witness the player in action below.
Pioneer will release the XDJ-1000 in late November at a recommended price of EUR 999.
