Surgeon reveals Fixed Action Pattern for Token
Anthony Child’s official debut on Token comes as a precursor to a forthcoming label compilation called Aphelion.
Surgeon first appeared on Token in 2008 when he remixed Swedish producer Grovskopa’s single Sex & Violins, Token’s eighth release. Six years and 40 records later, Surgeon will make his Token debut proper with Fixed Action Pattern, a two-track 12″ of distorted, broken beat techno tailor-made for the Belgian label. News of Anthony Child’s debut on Token also brings with it the news that label owner Kr!z is readying a new compilation entitled Aphelion due in November, which according to a press release “will differ from last year’s Token Introspective mix CD by providing a collection of bespoke productions from Token regulars and like-minded artists.” A second teaser single from Rødhåd is due in September.
It’s already been a huge year for Token with the release of Inigo Kennedy’s first album on the label, Vaudeville, while Rich Oddie of Orphx teamed up with Ancient Methods for the fierce Eschaton collaboration, both of which were joined by 12″s by label regulars Ctrls, Ø [Phase], and the Spherical Coordinates project between Christian Wünsch & Oscar Mulero. Surgeon’s Fixed Action Pattern 12″ provides two variants of the single track with the label suggesting the dub version sounds like something Lee “Scratch” Perry would produce had industrial techno been his thing.
Token will release Fixed Action Pattern by Surgeon on August 25.
