Juno Plus Staff Mix Vol. 1: James Manning

The first in a ongoing series of monthly mixes from the Juno Plus editorial team sees staff writer James Manning compile 80 minutes of genre veering sounds.

Working at Juno HQ means every the trip to the kitchen or bathroom means a walk through a warehouse full of records old and new. It’s not a bad place to stop and have look to see what’s in, maybe a peek at that black-marbled splattered 12” that’s slightly poking out from the shelf, or those three ledges holding more of the same gatefold deluxe packs than you’d bother to count. This first mix for the Juno Plus Staff Mix series is a collection of music I’ve either discovered in those hallways, to records I’ve reviewed on the site, reported on, or just simply music that’s hard to find, or hear, from artists and labels I love. All of course mixed in one-and-a-bit takes on a pair of Technics. Experimental drum and bass has increasingly become a fascination of mine so inside you’ll find one Fis’ most demanding records from last year in Homologous, cuts from Felix K’s Flowers Of Destruction LP to a favourite Ena production of mine plus something special from Berlin’s Weevil Neighbourhood.
