Frak are drifting away

Listen to the Swedish trio’s forthcoming Fusions In Park 12″ for Kontra Musik.

Since 2012, a fair chunk of the records Frak have released have come through Ulf Eriksson’s Malmö-based operation Kontra Musik. So far this year they’ve released on their own Börft Records, and supplied fledgling labels such as TSAR and Rotterdam outlet with second releases. As for Kontra, Fusions In Park will be the label’s third 12″ this year following Adam Rivet’s environmentally concerned Bear Bile EP, where all profits of the record went to WSPA, and the minimal collaboration between Porn Sword Tobacco and SUED and Acido Records man SVN.

Described by Kontra as “the Swedish House Mafia for people who actually know what house music is”, this two-track 12″ sees Frak deliver a pair of distinctly different productions. The first, “Machines Drifting Away”, which you can listen to in full below, merges stinging EBM and 303 basslines with jacking drums, deep house chords and other swathes of synths, while you might want to check “To Find A Way Home” too. Available to stream here, the B-side is a bumping techno track pumped full of filters and flange and their trademark Swedish machine-funk that at one point almost sounds like Paul Woolford’s “Erotic Discourse”.
