Tadd Mullinix and D’Marc Cantu re-engage the 2AM/FM project

Preview the Ann Arbor pairing’s forthcoming Fusion Daze release for the Signals label.

Speaking to us last week as part of his excellent Charles Manier podcast, Tadd Mullinix revealed he gets together with fellow Nation family Traxx and D’Marc Cantu at least once a week, “but sometimes we end up just talking and cooking instead”. Whilst not divulging any further details, it’s possible this joint interest in culinary matters is behind the fact there hasn’t been any 2AM/FM material from Mullinix and Cantu in some four years. An irregular project, 2AM/FM have graced Spectral Sound, Nation, Crème Organization and M>O>S Recordings since first surfacing in 2005, and are set for a welcome return with the upcoming Fusion Daze record for Signals.

Due out next month, the release features three all new 2AM/FM productions that find Mullinix and Cantu “confronting the canons of techno & house head on” as Signals put it. The below preview offers a sizeable hint of what to expect with the permanently shifting jakbeat of “Biological Interface” complemented rather nicely by the stargazing, low slung insouciance of “Lincoln Continental Z”.
