Clock on to Shift Work’s Optimo Music debut
Optimo Music introduce new act Shift Work to the label with the Scaled To Fit EP – preview it here.
Shift Work is a new London-based and so far anonymous project making its debut on Optimo Music, described by the label as “machine music for hypno dance floors and home listening tranceouts”. Due for a release at the end of June, the debut Scaled To Fit EP features three original productions, four interludes and a JD Twitch edit of “Patience”. Optimo Music have made two tracks from the EP available to preview via their SoundCloud page which can be streamed below, with the sounds of the first comparable to a dancefloor-charged combination of Ladytron and Tropic Of Cancer while the second track’s arpeggio throbs with the same power of a Factory Floor production.
Shift Work explains ‘their’ music as wringing everyday sounds into something you can dance to, something that makes the promise of future live shows intriguing to say the least. They also suggest that along with some very tidy modular patching, Scaled To Fit is drawn from “snippets of woven speech, audio fragments stitched with waves of pulsing mid-priced synths – the noise of syncopation, cheap art, ringing ears, cracked snares, accidents and oscillations.”
